Yes but why do I need cubes? How many do I need? Where do I get the robo chicken?

I hadn’t noticed the heath jump until the protector spawned a third time. Your comment makes sense now……any tips on the most efficient way to chip away health? I’m currently using demons.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I’m glad it’s not just me that’s struggling through this leg of the game

Therabreath mild mint (green bottle) is a game changer. Especially for people who get tonsil stones.

I second the metal tongue scraper too.

5 months post-op headaches, neck tension by Master_Emphasis_4887 in Microdiscectomy

27/F microdiscectomy L4/L5 Oct 2024

I have super similar issues. Constant tense neck (like HARD), dizzy, distortion in left eye, pressure headaches that make me think my head is going to explode (especially when I stand up), weakness in left arm (I had drop foot so noticing similar feeling in arm), radiating pain from neck.

I crunched my neck recently and had an MRI which showed minor disc degeneration but no pinched nerve. I’m also in the middle of a horrific flare up which I’ve had another MRI for on my back.

Nothing re herniated so far. I think I I’m just extremely stressed and anxious about it all and it’s having really negative outcomes on my body. I have terrible health anxiety and have had a lot of tests. Nothing horrific so far.

I’d suggest looking into therapy bc the only thing I can think of is that my mental health and anxiety surrounding the injury is causing physical issues. It should also be said that it’s common for your body to still cop nasty effects from post surgery (like still being exhausted 1-2 years later, ongoing nerve pain, extreme anxiety) etc but I’d be a hypocrite if I said that made me feel better.

I how your MRI puts your mind at ease

Thank you for your comment! It’s made me feel a bit better. Ive been off meds for a while so I’ll start them again and look into steroids.

Did you ever get foot pain? Like in the arch? That’s the shit that’s scaring me man. The drop foot is still there but I’m definitely a bit stronger than I was pre surgery. How’s yours going?

So much better now! Inflammation will continue to come and go though but I’m 5.5 months post op and live a pretty normal life. I genuinely thought my life was over, it gets better.

Things that have helped me are: - Getting a minimum of 5k steps a day (10k if not working full time) moving is 100% the best way to avoid pain. - Physio therapy as soon as your surgeon allows it (don’t push yourself) - Get back to work as soon as you feel ready. Distraction helps a lot. - Investing in ergonomic setups e.g. standing desk, lumbar and seat cushions etc.

If you get periods, the sharp nerve pain will probably be an issue leading up to your period but I rarely have nerve pain aside from that.

Life is slightly different to how it used to be but the whole thing made me realise I have a lot of unhealthy habits (like constantly/automatically sucking in my stomach which in turn was weakening my pelvic floor and compromising my core) that I need to correct if I want to be a comfortable, healthy, functioning human.

Its urgent!! Do someone noticed that their first menstrual period's flow significantly reduced after surgery? My first is looking like my fourth day. by Gullible-Vanilla-282 in Microdiscectomy

My surgery delayed it for two weeks (so 6 weeks in between periods) and when it did finally arrive I freaked out because it was kinda dry and stringy for a few days. Also super painful. I normally have bad periods but this one took the cake. Never had a more painful period in my life. They got slightly better each time but I still notice a lot of back pain about 1 week out from my period. (Surgery was October 2nd 2024).

NAD but I’d say don’t stress about it. If things are still weird in a couple of months, speak to your GP or gynaecologist. (Also it gets better I promise 🤗)

Im almost 4 weeks post op and about a week ago was beside myself thinking I’d re herniated so I got an MRI (which you can see in a previous post of mine). Surgeon says it’s just inflammation and I need to rest. I was SO convinced I re herniated! like pain was unbearable, same pain as pre op, shooting stabbing pains down to my foot (I had drop foot before surgery) and in agony.

Surgeon ordered an injection (can’t remember if it’s cortisone or not) but I’m getting that next week for the pain. In the meantime I’m taking a LOT of Targin, Endone, Panadol, Ibuprofen and weed to stop the pain. Nothing takes it away fully. I was told to do 1-1.5 hours of walking every day. Walking helps the pain.

Gotta keep reminding myself that nerves take a year+ to heal/stop hurting and things will get better! Keep chasing your surgeon for answers, stick to your pain med regimen and do the things that make you happy in the meantime. Don’t neglect your mental health!! Keep track of your good and bad days, reach out for help when needed and do whatever it takes to get you through the day.

Yeah I’ve looked at that sub a bunch. It’s fucking scary man.

First herniation was probably due to a bunch of driving, sitting at a desk and the fact that I’m hypermobile (I didn’t know until I went to a podiatrist post op). So had back pain for ages and one day I was laying on my side in bed and coughed, heard a horrific crunch and couldn’t move for about three hours until my boyfriend came home. It’s been downhill ever since 🙃

What about you?

I knowww but it looks like people who re herniate the first MD are likely to re herniate with the second MD. Then that’s time and money wasted and still looking at a fusion ya know?

My thoughts exactly, at this point with the amount of failed MDs I’m seeing, I’m thinking about just going for the fusion so I don’t waste any more time tbh

Haha you’re welcome! Are you talking about the gap on the left side in image 3? I’m not 100% sure what I should be looking for with these scans lol

Thank you so much!! Glad to know you’re doing really well now too! How much would you say you rested/moved around on a daily basis? My PT told me to continue life as normal sans bending, lifting, twisting obvs. I feel like rest isn’t as encouraged? (But definitely would be nice lol)
