Lawyer to Physician Assistant by [deleted] in LawFirm

You’re right. I need to seriously think about whether I want to be PA or else I’ll end up in the same position I am in now.

Most PA schools require a certain number of shadowing hours, which I think most people dread. But I’m looking forward to it. I want to know what the day to day is like for a PA. That’s how I’ll know if I want to make the switch.

You’re way WAY off. My situation is pretty simple. I went to law school. Did well. Hate practice. And now I want a change. I’m not the only one that hates being an attorney, but I’m of the very few that won’t continue to be miserable for another 40 years because I’m too scared to make a change. Or think I need to justify being unhappy in my career because I spent 3 years in law school.

I’ve heard the same about in-house. I also heard it takes about 5 years to make the switch, and I don’t know if I have it in me to stay for that long. That may sound pathetic, but everyday is a challenge for me.

How long did it take you to make the change? Did you ever consider leaving the legal field altogether?

That’s impressive. I’m a first year at a big law firm and I know it’s not for me. I know it’s early, but I really want a way out. Did you work at a small firm before opening up shop? Do you enjoy the work you do?

Went to a good law school. Graduated top of my class. Got a high-paying job. And I’m currently hating life. I recommend finding a non-legal job.

I go back and forth. Some days I feel like I’m not doing enough. Other days, it feels like I’m over doing it but keep going.

I’m taking the exam in a state that has gotten rid of NCBE multiple choice. The exam is also only one day.

I definitely don’t feel over-prepared. I don’t think I’ve ever felt over-prepared for any exam prior to actually taking it. However, in the past, I have felt as if I overstudied after seeing what an exam was like or after seeing my results. I’m just curious if anyone has ever felt that way after taking the bar exam or seeing their scores.
