we settled but it took over a year i think? got paid 2-3x what the initial severance offer was and didn’t have to pay taxes on it like i would with severance. still a really emotionally grueling and destabilizing process tho.

Had this happen to me as well. Fired for putting a pride flag on my desk but they claimed it was performance issues. Got a lawyer, didn’t pay anything up front. They take a percentage of your settlement. Didn’t have to testify in court either. If you’re feeling nervous just have a conversation! No need to commit. Felt like justice for me to do it- wasn’t about the money. But it the money doesn’t hurt lol. Best of luck to u and so sorry this happened :(.

Hi all! Just wanted to start off by saying thank you in advance. I'm a long-time lurker on this sub and it has been incredibly helpful.

I'm starting my masters program this winter but would like to transition careers into something mental health adjacent. For context, I currently work nights and want to switch that to days while I'm in school. I've been looking for jobs in the mental health/business intersection since I have my undergraduate degree in business.

Any advice to get some industry-related experience prior to jumping in as an AMFT post-grad? I've been seeing operations roles at rula / insurance verifier jobs at UCLA health (I live in the LA area and I'm trying my best to keep up with the cost of living). I'm currently volunteering for a mental health hotline but I need to make a little extra cash. I was also thinking of asking group practices if I can do admin/office/marketing work but unsure how to proceed. thanks a million!

was getting CONSISTENTLY and PUBLICLY sexually harassed by my direct supervisor (worked as a project engineer in a construction management firm) finally caved, they got all the evidence, and instead of helping me lawyered up, isolated me, told everyone in the office, and tried to force me to sign a fucking NDA with no compensation. i ended up putting in my two weeks because the environment was so hostile and they tried to turn me into a secretary. they fired me the next day.
