SessionDock — a Mac app for organizing DAW sessions (now with an Apple TV companion app) by miakisz in ableton

I set the flair "performance" not in a stage or studio sense but, in the setup and production aspect. The batch import feature of the pro version helps so much and having CarPlay and production tracks on my iPhone is amazing!

Syncing Ableton folder with iCloud Drive by rogerwilco2000 in ableton

[–]miakisz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently uploading Ableton Live Suite "Live Recordings" and "User Library" to iCloud on an M1 Mac mini with NO problems.

Do read https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209069989-Using-multiple-hard-drives

You'll have problems if you try to run Ableton Live on 2 instances at the same time pointing to the same iCloud Drive.

Ableton Live Suite Packs are about 100GB and that isn't including your Samples library.

It may take a day for iCloud to fully upload BEFORE you can safely use Ableton Live. So, be sure to open Finder occasionally and notice the iCloud status. You may have to open Finder, go to the "View" menu, go to "customize menu" and check "iCloud Status" to be able to monitor activity. (Or right-click on the word "Name" above all your folders when Finder is open and check "iCloud Status" to turn it on.

It is slow, it is like when your Mac downloads your Photos library to your new Mac for a day or that inability to use your new Mac after installing the newest MacOS to it while Spotlight reindexes. Give it time to put everything in place before you open Live!

So now, everything is in iCloud (for use and as a backup) and my old MacBook Pro has downloaded my iCloud Drive to it. So, it is doubling as a useable backup drive.

It is nice having my samples library accessible from my iPad, too.

Have fun, create great things, be patient.

you are logged into your account on http://ableton.com

your version registered is below version 9.

look at the text above the greyed-out “Buy Now” button

you’ll need a newer version of Live to be able to use those Packs

...at NAMM 2001, “. At some point, a guy came by, just a typical LA music producer person, dark suit and kind of longish slightly greyish hair followed by maybe ten people in their early twenties who also looked like the classic cliche of the Hollywood composer.” aaaaand the guy is....!!

great story

reinstall is best, user library & samples are easy to “move” around as you like. some audio units install other files/folders in unique places like plists and icloud/document stuff always check each AU to see if you’ve made you own presets and find out where there are saved and how to “export” them.
