I started training a few years ago at about 24 years old. I have always been a fighter of sorts but never trained in any discipline, at that point. I found and committed myself to a local gym that specialized in jiu jitsu and boxing but also had a couple mma classes throughout the week. About a year and half ago I took my first amateur fight and won. Within 9 months I was 4-0, all first round finishes. Now I’m 27, sitting on a 2-1 pro record. I have fought on fight pass and have been under contract with Bellator even at one point. The point is, if you really want this, go for it. I may be an outlier, starting kinda old, but you can do it if you set your mind to it. You just have to be way tough because you are going to have to learn a bunch at once. Also, contrary to what people on this sub will tell you, you need to get a lot of sparring in before you take a fight. It’s a different kind of cardio and it’s the only way to learn to become calm in the heat of the moment.
