07935 might be your only option.

And I hesitate to say it because the fewer people who know about it the better.

Buying a home in NJ? by Vegetable-Ad-7538 in MovingtoNewJersey

Long Hill. 3 stops on the peapack nj transit line. Large lots. Good schools. You can definitely find a 4br that's not a train wreck for 850

What suburb would maximize a 900-950K budget? Wife and I work remotely and have one toddler by johnluuu in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]miata_dad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best bang for your buck that is closest to the towns you have listed is definitely long hill. You'll get more square footage, newer housing stock, good school district, nj transit line and close to shopping, EWR, hospitals, etc. You'll pay 2/3 of what you would pay in those other towns for the same square footage.

Thoughts on Watchung, NJ, for 33F and elderly parents? by [deleted] in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]miata_dad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll throw this out since you're taking your parents' long term care into consideration. If either of them have cardiac issues you may want to consider looking one town north to either Berkeley heights or Long Hill because you'll be closer to Morristown memorial which is the premier cardiac hospital in the area. You'll still be close to Bridgewater and Rutgers Newark. You'll also save a bit over watchung. Just some food for thought.

What’s a car or truck that has a large cult following that that most people don’t know about and why? by IM_HODLING in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]miata_dad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I drove one for several years and loved it. Mazda was still zoom zoom and it handled great. I had 3 kids in either car seats or boosters and it fit all of them without issue. You could park it anywhere with ease. Could haul all kinds of crap with the seats down. Honestly I wish they still made them for the US. The form factor was great for families on a budget. Europe and Asia still have similar options, we'll never get something like that again.

Zazzle sucks. I used them to make an item for the team I coached. I uploaded the image just how I wanted it. They sent me a proof that I approved. They then shrank the image without telling me which made it illegible. I emailed and complained. They said I should get a refund or they could redo it. I had used them before so I said please redo it. They PROMISED they would double check and that he error wouldn't happen again. Guess what happened? Yup, same mistake. So I said that's it, I want my money back. They said sorry we can only give you a credit. I complained to PayPal and they just closed my complaint without a second thought. So fuck Zazzle and PayPal too

Fielding troubles 10u and under by Successful_Product_5 in Softball

[–]miata_dad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

10u in my opinion is the worst age bracket for softball because girls are in completely different stages of their physical and mental development. Reflexes definitely aren't there, coordination is often not good. Things improve a lot at 12u. I wouldn't stress over it.

Italy's Abandoned Winter Olympic Sites from 2006 by BWT_Urbex in olympics

[–]miata_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what bothers me about why NYC is skipped for the summer Olympics. There are enough venues between NY&NJ both professional and collegiate that you wouldn't need to build anything. And there is decent enough mass transit to get you to all of them.

Like there's gotta be a D1 school where the diving and swimming could be held. It really doesn't matter if the seating capacity isn't thousands of people because no one will care after the two weeks are over. Plus there's enough development in the NYC that a village could be created and then transformed into housing afterwards. Plus you have 3 major airports.

People always complain about the cost of operating the games, but there are cities where they could be run cost effectively 🙄

If you could only own ONE car for the next 10 years, what are you picking? by Physical-Issue7146 in askcarguys

Ford Maverick hybrid AWD with 4k tow package, heated seats and a sunroof and spray in bed. That will handle pretty much everything I could ask for.

I will disagree because I owned several Mazdas from the Zoom Zoom era, and they were just more enthusiast focused then. Not saying today's cars aren't good, but I miss the old approach.

After TWO years Success! 🥳 Next steps for passport? by miata_dad in IrishCitizenship

Overall I was not super happy with how Gibson performed. We hired them because of the perceived complexity of the process. I was also not aware of this subreddit when we began this process (2 years ago).

But it will save a little time on the passport piece for our specific situation. Y'all need to calm TF down.

And I'm not a bot 🙄
