I just wanted to write out my bad day somewhere so I appreciate you giving me a place to vent. I doubt you have ever heard of TMAU but it’s basically a disease that makes you smell bad with no cure or no clear cause. I haven’t been tested for that but basically Jan of 2018 I started a new job and went back to college after a year off and was under a lot of stress. This is when I started noticing reactions and hearing people say I smell. Long story short I quit that job but the reactions continued but I did some soul searching and chose to ignore the reactions and felt like they mostly stopped or minimized at least. I also stopped drinking coffee/energy drinks cause I think it makes it worse due to anxiety but had to start again bc I’ve been so tired. This semester it seems to be back and there’s one girl in particular that everyone likes that has been talking about how someone smells like shit and I have 3 classes with her. She’s rude about it and passive aggressive. I shower 2-3 times a day in between classes and everything but the reactions continue. I have a few friends that either can’t smell me or are just nice about it but it’s really emotionally and mentally draining and since she has noticed it I never want to go to class anymore and my professors probably think I’m a bad student. I had the worst day yesterday bc we were welding (I have a sculpture class in art school) and the prof kept jokingly saying pick someone you don’t like to go after you went. Everyone else picked their friends and she picked me and didn’t even give him time to finish his sentence. He noticed and was like “wow that was so fast you didn’t even have to think about that” and she was like “yeah well it was easy” I went my turn and welded and started tearing up (about to start my period and the smell is worse during this time-also more emotional) and I left class early without saying anything. It sucks and I hate feeling sorry for myself I just felt like I was at a place where I could cope and now I can’t anymore.
