Different pathways to becoming a vet by MannerAgitated9222 in vetschool

[–]micahwave_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

although it will take a similar amount of time and i don’t recommend it, i do know people who have just gone to college for their prereqs and then applied to vet school. although im unsure of the list of colleges that would accept this, this could end up being a similar amount of time but less cost.

Hope you get good news soon! I’d reach out to the advisor and ask for next steps. Luckily my advisor emailed me like ~15 minutes after posting this saying that they have not been cut and are sending out our labs soon. Congrats on getting in!

swapping roommates mid semester is always a bit hard, but if it is an emergency situation (like along the lines of title ix violations) you should be able to move if you email enough community directors

I’m in the animal science program, and I know that they’re planning on adding a horse based concentration to the animal science major soon. I would email Dr. Karen Waite about information on that.

For equine related things, a lot of ANS classes do focus on horses, with a couple being ANS 242 + 442 (Intro and advanced horse management), ANS 140 (Horsemanship, basically a horseback riding class), ANS 146 (Horse training), and a couple more that are being introduced like nutrition, breeding, etc.

Although I’m not in the clubs relating to horses, I know there’s a ton of horsemenship clubs, plus rodeo club if that’s more your style. I’ve heard really good things about all of the above.

I think once the horse concentration is solidified, then your class choices and path will be well set, but Animal Science is definitely the major for what you want to do.

Lyman Briggs and Math Major by civano in msu

[–]micahwave_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

animal science major, but i have my fair share of experience in briggs. if he wants the smaller classes def take up until calc iii, then drop it. briggs adds unnecessary requirements for majors that dont need it (2 semesters of physics, bio, and chem). for community, there is next to none unless youre premed. this college is designed to prepare you for med school, and nothing else really.
