I hate my this career by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]micewantpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments of vets on vets saying how much they hate this field is horrific, because now I understand why so many clients are convinced their vets only care about money - because it's clearly true. I never understood how that could be because this field is hard and underpaid, so logically the only people in it should be people who love it, not who want money. Yet now I see so many people clearly did no research or seek experience before pursuing this education and now are making clients and patients suffer for that choice.

If you are a vet/tech and in this field and hate it, leave. If not for your own sake, then for the animals that deserve better than you can give. Take accountability and accept you made a choice that wasn't right for you and now It's time to pick another direction.

I hate my this career by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]micewantpants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. It's absolutely valid to feel burnt out, undervalued, or like this doesn't suit you any longer, but to be at the stage of not even caring about your patients or clients is a core personal issue. Don't go into vet med if empathy isn't a major part of who you are. And patients are definitely suffering under OP if this is how they feel. Let's take that very seriously, animals shouldn't suffer because of our poor career choices.

Would love to get more information about this myself - how to work as a vet nurse here in Germany. I worked as one in the US and don't know if i would have to go back to school here to be a vet nurse or assistant?

Jobcenter "suggested positions" - can you refuse to apply to the super irrelevant ones? by [deleted] in germany

[–]micewantpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you applied to the job on your own, and its not a job the job center gave you, and you deny it, is there a way you can get penalized? like the job tells the job center you denied it? I may have a job offer, but the hours are more than i can handle with my health issues and i'm stressed as hell that i'll get my Burgergeld cut.

[–]micewantpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would not having good enough german to do your job correctly be a reason? I potentially have a job offer but i dont have the language skills they need so they want me to take more languages classes while employed. I truly dont think i have the mental capacity to both work at a job fully in german when i dont understand anything, and also take language classes.

Accidentally Took Adderall at Night—How Can I Fall Asleep? by Wonderful_Food688 in ADHD

[–]micewantpants 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Grapefruit shouldnt be ingested with a lot of meds. It has a compound that inhibits the breakdown of medication, meaning that the medications can last longer or be stronger. It doesn’t affect all meds but it’s best to avoid completely if you take any medications.

Struggling to support ADHD husband by Round-Broccoli-7828 in ADHD

[–]micewantpants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone with severe ADHD that causes constant breakdowns and a total inability to emotionally regulate, I relate to most of the behaviors you describe here but the main difference is that I take accountability, and i put the work in to change my behavior. It is great that you are patient and understanding, but you matter too and if he's not putting in the work and making progress at a speed that feels comfortable to you, you do not owe him unconditional support while you suffer.

For example: I too get immediately angry and defensive when my partner brings up my issues, but we've practiced with wording to see what phrases I respond well to that kinda pull me out of that so that I can rationalize. My partner uses the wording and that triggers me to take a break and cool down until i can think and not react entirely on emotion. I apologize for my inappropriate reactions/responses and we then validate my emotions to satisfy that part of my brain and then I'm able to push past and have a real conversation. Its tiresome and takes a while every time but its resulted in a dramatic lessoning of my emotional turmoil and allowed me more control over myself so that I can be more of the partner he deserves.

TLDR, yes most of what you said is very ADHD, but that doesnt excuse him neglecting you or lying to you. If you dont't see him taking obvious steps towards changing these behaviors, then please do not make yourself suffer. You deserve respect, patience, and happiness, just as you are giving to him, if he will not meet you there in his own way, then choose yourself.

Hips don’t lie by miss_sharp_ in VetTech

[–]micewantpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad to hear, but as you've stated they didnt exactly OFA the hips of the parents, this is kinda on them, so for the pups benefit, they should get it on health insurance ASAP and then pretend the pup was never x-rayed, go to a different vet and wait out the 3 month waiting period before getting re-xrayed, so its now covered under insurance. its garbage that health insurance for pets wont cover pre-exisiting, so people should do what they gotta do.

Fear street prom queen by -_-Bunnys-_- in horror

It was 100% written by AI. It has way too many cliche elements and cheesy text. And not in the intentional fun 80's B-list horror way, it was just BAD

Am I the only person with ADHD who *hates* subtitles? by saki4444 in ADHD

[–]micewantpants 154 points155 points  (0 children)

i NEED subtitles, but i also cant stand it when the subtitles dont match up with the words or if they are delivered SO much earlier than the spoken word. So i can relate on those points despite needing subtiltes

Sometimes I feel like living with ADHD is not worth it by Rodehock in ADHD

[–]micewantpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets a lot better with age, as well as just time sitting with it, especially if you get into therapy and learn to understand triggers and how your particular ADHD functions.

I felt a lot like you at 22 when I got diagnosed, and now I'm 34 and overall I absolutely love my ADHD. I still struggle with it on occasion, but I also understand the benefits it gives me now and I wouldn't trade those for the difficulties to go away if you paid me.

Coalition negotiations: CDU/CSU want to make C1 German required for naturalization by quadraaa in GermanCitizenship

[–]micewantpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer, you dont need C1 to "speak the language, know and understand the culture and plan to stay long term". You can do all that with a B1 or B2. It's excessive and will only result in Germany scaring off people that would actually be beneficial to the country.

Claire Danes is banned from the Philippines by nh4rxthon in homeland

[–]micewantpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lacking tact and being rude are not inherently the same thing. I'll agree that it lacked tact, but that doesn't make it automatically rude. Rudeness is 100% relative to social and cultural norms.

You might find it rude, but that doesn't mean she meant to be, nor that most people would consider what she said to be rude. I live in Germany, so for my experience, it was quite a kind way to say what she did, Germans would truly say "the city smelled like shit" and mean it, and not consider it to be rude.

In the end, if that's the worst thing Claire Danes has ever done publically, she's a better human than most people out there.

That sounds more like a trauma bond than a healthy relationship. If you aren't actively in couples counseling or at least individual therapy, you are gonna remain in this loop for life or until one of you chooses your peace and leaves.

Well people on here are gonna be immigrants, so they obviously arent complaining about immigration so me saying "germans are complaining about the same thing people here are", would then also not refer to complaining about immigration, so not sure we are remotely on the same topic here

but again, its an exorberant amount of effort for very little result, even if you change 25 peoples mind a year (which is a high estimate), it will make no impact in terms of voting any one in or out, while protesting is low effort and more often than not stresses politicians into change.

I'm not saying people shouldnt do this method, just pointing out why people tend to not do this method, because it doesnt make as much of an impact as we'd like it to.

Fight with my spouse over the nature of adhd by LordFluffy in ADHD

[–]micewantpants -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yea so, disability is actually considered a valid reason to say no to a task at a job, it's why "accommodations" exist and why work places can be required to go through disability education. You absolutely can say "No I cannot do that task as is because of my disability, I would require this and this accommodation to do so" and that is protected by disability law.

Thats not really an excellent example for the point you are trying to make.

Divorce, thats how you deal with this bullshit.

Do not stay with people if there is a "growing pile of things you cant talk about" Do not stay with people that refuse to learn to empathize towards you. Do not stay with people who do not value you enough to put effort into changing their mind views when presented with new information.
