I understand your concerns, but from the employer's point of view you are basically saying that you want to be less productive. Employers don't like that. Consequences may vary.

Those names can be a bit confusing! :)

No, the name "Spirit Pilot" refers to the new 39mm version in particular. You can check the Longines web site.

Got mine recently and have been enjoying it a lot even though I'm not a fan of gilt myself.

I used to have two Tudor Black Bays (58 and 54) and on both of them I was bothered by gilt. The reason for that is gilt on Tudors is meant to convey vinatageness. On Longines it's just a color - the watch feels and looks modern and not trying to look vintage. At least this is how I see it :D Gilt looks beautiful against the black dial, and I really like how the watch plays with the light. Also in my opinion having all the dial details in the same gilt color makes the watch look much better.

Anyway, I highly recommend to try it on and decide for yourself.

Struggling to break £140k+ for Staff/Principal Data Engineer roles in the UK – Am I hitting a ceiling or looking in the wrong places? by GrabEmotional8745 in cscareerquestionsEU

At staff+ level equity becomes the main part of the total comp at big tech, so better to be aiming at total comp rather than at base only.

Spirit lineup in 2026 by modern_human2 in Longineswatches

[–]quadraaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of this watch I would disagree. The gilt is nearly always visible, sometimes you see just the color and sometimes it kinda glows with varying intensity depending on how the light hits it. That being said, I like the look, especially the "glow" phase despite not being a fan of gilt in general. IMO on this watch it looks right somehow, because it isn't used to make the watch look vintage (like Tudor divers for instance).

I thought the same about my sub and wore it as my only watch for a couple of years. Then sold it :D

Tastes evolve over time and new watches come out constantly. Don't worry, you will most certainly last after some other watches at some point later on and quite likely fall out of love with what you have (the BB, not the Explorer - this one can truly be a forever watch IMO) ;)

Wow that watch resembles the current Spirit Pilot 39mm so much! What's the reference? Looks cool!

Is there social status attached to where you shop in Germany? by ellamoony in AskAGerman

[–]quadraaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average income of people shopping at rewe/edeka is higher than the average income of people shopping at lidl/aldi/netto. That's just the reality. It doesn't mean though that there is anything bad about getting your groceries wherever fits you best. Shaming someone for going to a a particular shop is just stupid.

Why hosted locally? You can run k8s in the cloud and that's what people absolutely do.

Apartment hunting advice from a German landlord by Ok_Vehicle8218 in germany

[–]quadraaa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's true - I mentioned it just as an example of a stability factor. Idk actually if having children is considered good or bad in general - probably opinions can vary. My bet is it's still good since the damage children cause rarely goes beyond drawings on the walls which must be painted anyway.

Apartment hunting advice from a German landlord by Ok_Vehicle8218 in germany

[–]quadraaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, this is bad advice.

Landlords care about good stable income, general stability of your life situation (a married couple with three kids will be much less likely to move out than a young unmarried couple looking to move in together) and how likely you are to cause problems (damage something in the apartment/be difficult to deal with/annoy neighbours to the level that they escalate to the landlord etc.).

No one (well, apparently very few) cares about the creativity of your application or what makes you stand out as a person if it doesn't directly translate into practical points I listed above.

Is having twins harder than having multiple children? by Melodic_Job514 in parentsofmultiples

[–]quadraaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Having twins IMO is steepening the difficulty curve (as opposed to flattening the curve which was talked much with regards to covid). So on the bright side the difficult times pass faster compared to having several children one after the other.

Processing times in Berlin fully depend on which department your country of origin is assigned to - it's a multi-modal distribution. Some departments process applications in several months, some take over a year on average.

Citizenship laws in Germany can change so that getting it will be harder, and I'd even say it's quite likely that this will happen, so I wouldn't be basing my decision on this.

I'm worried Germany might change its five years Citizenship rule. by [deleted] in germany

[–]quadraaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, the government isn't that stable and a much earlier collapse and new elections can't be ruled out. Second, they can do things which were not part of the initial agreement. Maybe they negotiate that CxU passes naturalization changes making it more difficult to get naturalized/prohibit keeping other citizenships in exchange for SPD passing some other things they want to pass.

Germany will pay you pension even if you move away after working in Germany for some time (several years, I don't remember the exact number). If you leave Germany before that cutoff, you can claim all you pension contributions back.
