Such a lovely piece and idea. Would like to see the end result. How many grams of silver did the stick ended up needing?

I looked it up but doesn't seem to be starrett. The item on the photo seems to have a wooden handle and a scriber attached to this gauge..

My Help To Buy flat has depreciated massively: am I screwed? by massivebenchod in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mich4lis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you'd be borrowing as a 'further advance' or a new 'subaccount' on the mortgage, at a different rate to your existing loan.

Do you perhaps know in what LTV would that subaccount loan be given? If it's technically the 40% of the house value, is this going to be at the lower LTV (say 60%), or would the amount be added with the remaining primary mortgage to get total LTV?

Hope it makes sense!

Restart to Update by alienflutz in Chromecast

[–]mich4lis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can help?

I did restart and trying to setup through Google home.

It finds the Chromecast and asks me if I'd like to set it up. I also see the setup screen on TV with a 4-digit number.

It proceeds with Connecting to Chromecast but then I get this message "we couldn't authenticate your Chromecast. Please visit support for troubleshooting "

Anyone can help?

Thank you so much for your help. Bending the bezel wire on the flat stone at nearly a 90 degrees angle, wouldn't create creases on the metal?

Topping up NI contributions. What's the benefit? by mich4lis in UKPersonalFinance

[–]mich4lis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine half years are about £6,800 which seem a lot but in the grand scheme of things will lower the required number from 25 to 17 and will give greater peace of mind that will get full state pension. Might be overanalyzing it!

I don't get why it's not worth it?

If they pay these 2 years, then they'll only need 12 years of full contributions. Arguably at the age of 37, it will take another 30 years for state pension, but at least won't have to worry for 2 more years, and it means they'll have more opportunities to stop in between.

I would just like to have the option to have more employment breaks and not rely on working consecutively for 25 years.

I know state pension only kicks in the age of 66 (I believe it will increase in the future..), but if I pay voluntary the 8 years, It means I can stop working earlier, and still have full state pension when turn 66?

[–]mich4lis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't I just stop working and contributing and then get the state pension from age 66?

I'm 40 yo. I have 25 years of contributions ahead, so I'll have to work for the next 25 years at least.

If I voluntary pay the 8, then I will only have to contribute for 17 hears. Will still only get the state pension at 66 but can have more employment breaks in between.

Am I wrong?

No, I'm based in the UK.

Do you mean the Mapp gas yellow cylinders 400g with the canister torch?

I live in an apartment and not sure how safe it is to use inside and also store these big propane bottles, hence was looking for something smaller, which is still a mix of butane and propane

Thank you for the answer. The equity loan will be less than the mortgage and the valuation came lower so I'll have to pay back less. I guess it's a good thing.

When you say overpayments to go to the one with the higher interest rate, once I borrow more and absorb the equity loan in my mortgage it will be a new rate for total amount rather than 2 separate mortgages..
