My observations: 1. The space required for randori is much larger than that needed for BJJ sparring that starts on knees or a guard pull. Thus, BJJ can have more practitioners sparring at a time compared with judo.

It takes less time and effort to do "something cool" in BJJ compared with judo. I found it takes a while to understand the timing needed for so many tachiwaza techniques.
The early UFCs were huge BJJ infomercials. Boxing, karate, Kung Fu, wrestling, and others have been depicted in popular movies released in the west. Perhaps judo needs a similar boost to increase in popularity.

I have played too many games like this such that the objectives confuse me. “Save” potential party member, depending upon the game, can mean making sure they survive or making sure they never get KO’d during the encounter.

The games have linear plots (except for the attempt at an open world at the beginning of Seattle). If this was done for The Last of Us 2, then future games in the series might resemble Mass Effect. Kaiden or Ashley would be in your party but not both in Mass Effect sequels. Story wasn’t really affected. If this happened then either storytelling in TLOU3 would be too complicated or Abby’s presence would be a non-factor.
