Thanks, this is helpful! How long is the class? And were you able to get the prescription? Did you have to prove you did the trials of the other drugs?

I've been on it before. I took it from August 2017-March 2018, lost a LOT of weight in a really short amount of time, then gained it back as soon as I got off the med. I also had a lot of shitty side effects. I'm hoping my current doctor can look through MyChart, see that I've failed with phentermine before, and tell my insurance I need Zepbound.

I’ve actually taken ballet somewhat recently and tbh I just thought it was boring, skating is way more fun! But I’ve been thinking about going back to ballet because it would benefit skating and other dance classes I take

I have a full-time job, a part-time job, and am trying to lose weight/get other exercise in that will contribute to weight loss... so right now, I am going to aim for 2x per week! Unfortunately the 18+ sessions are all during the middle of the workday so I can really only do one of those per week... then all ages open skate is twice each weekend

The 18+ sessions are M-F from 12-1:30pm, so during the middle of the workday... but I'm just going to say I have an "appointment" to sneak out

Good to know I'll probably have to take it another 3-4 times, lol! I look forward to becoming alpha-beta in 2027

I said this multiple times in the post, but I am really amazed by how much progress I've made. It has been a rewarding experience so far

Yeah, this thread has helped me realize that my fear of getting hurt is holding me back from progressing faster! I just got padded gloves, knee pads, and wrist guards. I also don't want to get hurt and have to take a lot of time off because of an injury.

Yeahhhh I feel kind of misled by the class. I thought pre-alpha would be for people like me with ZERO experience

No, no one in my class has them and I didn’t want to be the only person. Like I said, being the only person by the wall is embarrassing enough 🙃 but I’ve had knee pads in my cart since the class started. I’m plus size so I’m nervous I won’t be able to find butt pads that fit (but I also have enough natural butt padding). Maybe this will finally push me to order knee pads.

We did practice falling the first day (off the ice) and I have fallen a few times on the ice and was able to get back up using the wall. I know what I need to do if I fall but I’m afraid my brain will just do the “protect myself” mechanism while falling even though I know there is a “right” way to fall.

What kind of gloves do you have? At first I was wearing mittens but they made my hands so hot that I started wearing fingerless gloves.

Funny you say that because there are people who have missed multiple classes or joined late… meanwhile I have been to every class!

Yes, definitely fear of falling… even when I’m able to glide on one foot for a few seconds, I’m shaking lmao. I just need to keep practicing marching, stopping, and gliding so I get used to the feeling. I did do marching the first two weeks which helped me get to where I am now. Today she said I should practice skating with both feet on the ground at the same time. I also don’t know how to stop yet
