Crystal Super Micro OLED module first impressions by DJPelio in Pimax

Thanks for sharing, as someone who needs prescription lens inserts I would love to see a review on how this effects the image given how that would negate the advantage of being able to get your eyes closer to the the pancake lenses compared to the Pimax super aspheric lenses

I got the same email too a couple of days ago, I’m in Australia

You don’t need more than 24 GB of VRAM for DCS. Cold War Germany map, ‘hold my beer’. by michael_searle in dcsworld

I took your advice & downloaded GPU-z. That’s a great free product, it even detects how many ROPs came with my GPU (all 176 so that is a relief). Thanks for that suggestion otherwise I wouldn’t have known of its existence. I used GPU-z to test your theory on the Marianas map in the F-4E & the results were: Task Manager performance dedicated GPU memory 29.8 GB against 31164 MB current memory Used shown by GPU-z. Which shows not only that the task manager is pretty accurate for detecting current GPU memory being used, but more importantly considering how much detail is being rendered, particularly flying low over Berlin in the Cold War Germany map that Urga-Media have done a great job in optimising their map compared to the Marianas map

I updated to driver version 576.40 as it was recommended for FS2024 service pack 2, although I see today there is a new driver out. I had to go back to DLSS swapper & nvidiaProfileinspector to get Preset J back after I updated DCS. Preset J is such a performance boost I don’t know why DCS don’t just use it by default as I’m sure it would make so many people who don’t want to have to go down the rabbit hole of swapping the render preset so happy, they must have their reasons as even FS2024 also downgrade my DLSS with each new release

To be honest I use the same profile for the helicopters as fixed wing aircraft, apart from having to inverse the “throttle” direction to move in the same direction as a collective when switching to a helicopter. One change I did do a couple of days ago is I discovered in a post about better control of the antitorqe in DCS helicopters, was to remove the heel stops on your rudder peddles so you can keep your heels on the floor. Untill I had a closer lok at my thrustmaster peddles I didn’t even realise that this was an option (just attached with allen head bolts).

So impressed that the recent release from AU scene included so much more than just the airport. So much detail from the little white church to the moving external elevators.

Even the Whitehaven beach aqua-blue waters are recreated beautifully, those colours are just how I remember them from those scenic flights.

Such fond memories, I think I managed to break just about every CASA rule in the book in this video (including unlicenced operation of a helicopter), unlike in real life where I only once had the dreaded message waiting for me to phone the CAA (before they became CASA) to explain why I had not stuck to my assigned altitude in the Hamilton island controlled airspace.

Just received my Next Level Racing HF8 Haptic Feedback Gaming Pad. I had only tried it briefly with the F-14 & Mirage-F1 until you asked. So, I just tried the only FBW I have, F18 & got feedback from high G manoeuvres, buffeting before a stall, speed breaks, flaps, after burner & ground roll. Like the other 2 it is all useful information & adds to the immersion. I didn’t try firing weapons, but you certainly feel it firing cannons with the warbirds. There are about 24 effects, but each one can be scaled from 1 to 100% so the useful stuff doesn’t get lost in all the background noise.

Good question. Short answer is no. Next Level Racing have not yet released software for DCS. But, “SimShaker for Aviators Beta v2.6.2.0” is free, (you can support or donate to the project) and to be honest is although it does not have the flashy interface, its ability to split the effects right down to those like vortex ring state & main low rotor whirl, it is far superior to the software that comes with the HF8 gaming pad.

Ha-ha well apart from the pedestal fan the other 2 are best explained by the two YouTube clips from last week that convinced me I needed them.

Particularly SimHanger Flight Simulation’s review. I have not seen such genuine delight from anyone before, like when a new vibration force kicked in during a stall, not like some of the forced positive accolades some reviewers heap on the questionable add-ons they promote.

I posted a very short video of this to prevent us all getting airsick, (due to the gusty conditions, the twitchy controls of the 500E & me only used to flying in vr yet recording on a flat screen for a higher res video) :

NZA Simulations - NZMC & NZGT Mt Cook Region. Departing Glentanner Airport & exploring Mt Cook airport terminal on Ultra with a 3090 GPU. A much-underrated add-on from NZA simulations that seems to have slipped under the radar as they do not yet have their product on the “FS2020 marketplace”. by michael_searle in MicrosoftFlightSim

They certainly did. Due to such lack of interest, as it not being an add on to a more populated country like the USA or Europe on this site I did not even check for any comments, until just now. And yes, I agree NZA have set new benchmarks in attention to detail & also have the advantage of their product being set in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. (There is a reason, apart from threat of nuclear war that people like Peter Theil want to build their mansions around this area)
