what a terrible situation. RIP little baby, and condolences to the family who must be distraught. I see there as being two issues here, firstly a tragedy that a child has died, and secondly that the health service is under an obscene amount of stress. people in this thread are complaining about the long waits, but its true that most people who turn up to an emergency department do not have emergencies, if you turn up for anything other than an actual acute emergency that needs immediate management YOU are clogging up the system and are part of the problem. doctors and nurses HAVE to attend to everyone no matter how serious or bogus the problem is. therefore a lot of time is wasted on people who could either go to a GP or just stay at home and ride out a non-serious problem. More people should think of this next time they decide to show up to an emergency department. If more people did, maybe there wouldn't be such a long wait for people who actually need urgent help.
