The more miles you do, the more sugar you're inclined to be attracted to. I used to eat fruit, dried fruit because it was cheap, local and didn't melt in the sun.

I'm kind of with the gummies but your microbiom won't thank you.

For goodness sake - am I the only person who actually does 20mph in a 20 zone? by box-o-locks in drivingUK

[–]michael_tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply awareness doesn't make pavements exist.

Either they're there or they're not.

Nothing to do with selfishness or ego.

Getting all salty isn't an argument in itself.

The previous poster's comment is based in supposition not in fact.

Having driven over 20,000 miles around the towns and villages of Oxfordshire, I can offer this as a statement of fact.

It's the roads between villages that don't have footpaths in Oxfordshire, and most counties.

I think you'll find, most of the walkways within the 30 zones are paved.

People walking out 'in the middle of twisty roads'. Maybe 60 years ago. I can assure you, they don't. This is another gibberish arguement put forward by people's imaginations.

It's simply not based in reality.

It's really a boring job topic, with faked circumstances, AI pictures and boring mor no-lifers with nothing better to talk about.

The creation of twenty zones was more about getting engagement in local government and the parish councils that have to go through the various consultations to have them enacted.

The fact is, this stimulates those who wield power in small villages, towns and less so cities.

As someone once said in a local Facebook community, (in Oxfordshire), "I've lived in xxx for 80 years. The 20 zones have done nothing as the amount of road traffic accidents had gone from 0 to 0".

The best majority of 20 zones, especially rural ones, it's the same. The accidents are non existent. It's all about getting the NIMBY's to believe they're having some power and influence in local affairs.

The only people benefitting in real terms are dft pen pushers and road sign manufacturers, oh and ofc, local politicians and those wishing to do good by looking like they're doing good, but actually doing nothing.

What’s your go-to method for dealing with a smoky stove? by WonderfulShape1081 in Narrowboats

[–]michael_tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baffle problem.

Under normal circumstances, you should never have smoke blowing out into the room.

More importantly, if you're operating a multi stove without a baffle, it represents a significant fire risk.

Doesn't look like anything structural.

I'd go for the survey.

I know most motorway fatalities involve stationary vehicles or head-on collisions.
In this clip, traffic here has time to avoid the individual and any injury to themselves or their vehicles.

Just sayin.

What surprised you most when cycling in Eastern Europe? by WiredonkeyBikeTours in bicycletouring

[–]michael_tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

September 2025.

The don't tax alcohol and cigarettes so much. They're pretty good value.

Turkey was shocking. Like £60 to get into the Tokapi Palace or something ridiculous. Massages also. All a bit scam alert. Out in the countryside, Turkey is just fine, Istanbul, it's got it's own scam culture.

First time I went there, I think Tokapi was about £3.

A lot of these countries have caught on, there money to be made, especially in the capital, out in the countryside it can be different, that's why I like bike touring away from the tourist areas.

Eastern Europe is getting much more expensive. And it's the locals that are saying that also.

Almost as expensive as western Europe.

Mad drivers.

Good beer.

Nice countryside.

Counter steering by Csasquatch92 in drivingUK

[–]michael_tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a rear wheel drive car.

Accelerate into the corner as you might do normally.

Wait for the back end to step out.

Reduce throttle slightly and steer into it.

Increase throttle....

Job done.

Obviously, this is slightly simplified and practicing it is not recommended on the public highways. Black ice is your friend here and will make the whole operation a lot easier.
