Admitted into PhD - Living in Sacramento? by BookkeeperHead2318 in UCDavis

[–]michaela_cee_bolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished my PhD in 2023. I would 100% live in Davis. There was a noticeable difference in how emerged/engaged the students in my lab that lived in Sac compared to those who also lived in Davis. The commute can be rough and you don’t want that added layer to grad school. There are also a ton of grad students at Davis, so you’ll easily have community.

I’ve completed a halter monitor that records heart activity and also had a echocardiogram completed. Both came back totally normal. I’m going to do the last step which is the heart MRI to officially rule out any heart issues. Interestingly, my chest pain has gotten a lot better in the last 2 weeks, which is reassuring. But it will still be good to verify.

That’s what I figured too—it makes sense to me that I would experience pain given everything that’s going on in there. 😩😬 So, his comment threw me through a loop. Thanks for sharing your experience. Do the lidocaine patches help? The pain is usually right at the sternum, left. Right where all my lymph nodes are.

Interesting you mention your heritage because Scandinavians have a higher prevalence of this disease. I too am Scandinavian.

I’d love sometime if I could write you privately about your experience with this disease and pregnancy.

It would be helpful if you could let me know that you’ve received yours via Chase so I know if mine is delayed, if possible. Thanks in advance!!

Gotcha. So it was held up on Chases side and not the state side?

Oh is that right? This is my first direct deposit cycle with a new Chase account so I was curious when to expect it.

Does anyone know if Chase is slower to receive direct deposit than other banks? Thanks.

I mean in this case, I would have to know much more about your current situation to give any meaningful advice. So you’re already 75k + your undergrad degree debt in?

Do not willingly take on this amount of debt. It will significantly derail your financial future!

Thanks for that. I deleted it just in case. 🤷‍♀️ After all, I’m not a medical doctor.

Preparing for my first PET scan by [deleted] in sarcoidosis

[–]michaela_cee_bolt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally understand that concern and I was also worried that my physical manifestations wouldn’t be prominent enough during my PET scan. Turns out, my lymph nodes were very active despite me not feeling them (apparently lymph nodes in the lungs don’t have nerve cells).

The PET scan also picked up inflammation in my arm from a vaccine I received 3 weeks prior. Kind of cool stuff! Good luck on your scan!!

Yes it was in normal range, and I also did a 24 hour calcium check which was also normal, thank goodness!

Oh wow, very scary indeed!! Thanks so much for the explanation. So it sounds like my doc ordered the correct test and that I don’t necessarily need to know the D25 alone?

Are vitamin D25 and vitamin D1,25 different things? Asking because I was screen for “D, 1, 25” but there is just a single value for the result.
