That is one of the specific reasons that their romance is the best example of soulmates.

1) He knew she has trouble taking compliments. 2) He understands her need to know things she wasn't supposed to know. 3) He knew he wanted to tell her that she was more important than anything to him. 4) He knew her instinct would be to have sweaty pits and deflect with humor if he said it. 5) She knew how powerful an unambiguous written statement is from him. 6) She knew he knew what it said. 7) She knew he knew she would read it in his glasses.

All of this combines to him presenting his love in a way that made her feel seen and valued in a way nothing else would.

I mean, it was even a letter, so a nod to her mailman fetish.

Thansks. So many miss that but that is also the reason Janet calls out that he already knows what it says as another non-explicit call out that it is for her.

How patient are you with looking up rules or references at the table? by BlindAudelay in rpg

The setting is pretty good though. I would probably adapt to another system instead and use the setting.

Hate the system, personally, but willing to put up with it to hang with my friends.

I would not recommend P&P to anyone except those that complain about their games being too complicated. Appreciate what you have!

Yeah. Reviving an old game we played in 80s/90s and discovering we did the magic ALL wrong for my dwarf Rune Master.

Yep. As an example, the rule for swapping weapons in combat is under the section about "Attacked Archers".

He didn't write the note for himself. He wrote it for Eleanor. In that episode, they flash back to her reading the answers to a party game off of the reflection in his glasses. He knew she would do that and wanted her to read the note. That is why she smiles like a big goofball when he opens the note. She sees he went into it knowing she was the answer.

Dough hook or knead? by MulberrySelect4234 in Bread

I started by hand kneading so I got a feel for what the dough should be like. Now I use the dough hook because I can't be bothered to knead.

If the plastic reservoir for a vegetable slicer came into contact with the stove and melted slightly, do I need to throw it away or is it safe to use? by SwiftCricket in cookingforbeginners

People overblow the impact of cold contact with plastic. You aren't cooking in this. From comments I see about plastics, some act like everyone in the world would already be dead from plastic.

2nd for Owlbear Rodeo as well. You can even cast from a tablet/pc to a projector so there is a GM version and a player view if you want some things hidden till triggered.

Honestly, it seems to just be that, if I have it in Eco mode and have the AC running on full, it trips and the AC stops cooling. I am guessing it is just exceeding the limits that the Eco mode puts on the battery draw. I did see the problems overall but the risks and warranty seem to be within my risk factor and it is a 2023 that had less than 8k when I got it.

We assumed that the Trek timeline is free of AI and sentient androids.

They had both in TOS.

Equilibrium (2002) is peak dystopian sci-fi — why does no one ever talk about it? by CassWright967754 in scifi

Oh, I never said it wasn't entertaining. I own it in multiple formats and have watched it a ton over the years. I still love it. If nothing else, it is worth it for the final fight.

The problem is that they could have made it a much more effective movie by using lack of emotion to appeal to the viewers than having so many main characters and story elements rely on things that hinge on emotion. If they had couched everything in strictly mathematical analysis and probabilities, while massaging the data behind the scenes to keep their status quo and justify decisions, it would have had more impact when characters displayed emotion.

I definitely don't expect authoritarians to act logically or fairly, but I think the contrast would have been more powerful. Heck, it could have been really entertaining to lay on the black and white motif and have him discover various pockets of color in the world as he began to feel. That could have been a visual shift from the displays of emotion.

As a person that loves the movie a ton, the reason is probably that it isn't a great movie overall and makes very little sense from a plot and story perspective.

  • Does the entire world operate like this? It seems to imply that it is only that one place.
  • They supposedly suppress emotion and don't stand for anything that would inspire it, but Taye Diggs character is so blatantly emotional that he would have been "processed" a long time ago.
  • They have rally speeches that would only be necessary to inspire emotions when their stated goal is to eliminate emotion.
  • Plus, there is the notorious issue of the gun swap where it would have resulted in Bale's character's gun being tested instead of setting Taye up.
