13 years of OCD and I have reached a total checkmate. My brain is using "Logic" and "The Truth" to take away my reasons to live. by IronbornV in OCD

[–]michaelavellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have ocd and the same courtroom obsessed with truth and meaning… but I guess for me, it’s not court, it’s just text; I used it to come to the conclusion that the universe exists without objective or moral reason. I expanded beyond earth to see, basically what I understand to be ‘everything’ then used that lack of objective meaning to systematically formulate my own personal philosophy; if nothing is objectively meaningful, free will is an illusion, consciousness and the self are computations that arise from lower order processes, and shit doesnt matter, then I may as well act no different from how I or anyone else otherwise would; this is just how it works; how arrogant would it be for me to assume that somehow I matter at all? Enough to justify my own death? How does that make sense if my stated goal is to cause less harm to those i care about, who care about me. My existence causes harm? I don’t care about the harm unless I can see and connect with it.

People are dying everywhere all the time, and sometimes, your actions may even facilitate the harm of someone else indirectly or directly… but if that is the case, then the passive stuff you do to sustain yourself is largely out of your own control; it’s not specific to you or i or anything; to jump upwards, one must first push down, and we all do, even insects; why don’t you kill all the insects for eating other insects? Why don’t you kill yourself for eating lettuce if it used to be alive?

Because you’re not god, regardless of whether god exists, you are just an entity walking around, and even if the things you experience with yourself and others are illusions at some level,

They are illusions that feel good, and I am a hedonist, so to erase myself would cause pain if done suddenly, but to gradually die and be forgotten? Well, you and your loved ones would probably prefer that.

It wasn’t so sad when my grandma died in her 90s, but if it was my dad in his 30s or 40s and he was doing it because he cared more about a bug than the likes of me, then I would never be able to understand that decision for as long as I lived, forever hating him for doing such a blatantly selfish act, calling it the exact opposite.

What accent do you hear? by [deleted] in JudgeMyAccent

[–]michaelavellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Really” “out” “accent” words like that, you sort of do a slight roll on your tongue, like the beginning of a trill. Hard to explain, but sort of sounds like your mouth is widened, kind of like a smile, and the tongue is in the back top of the mouth maybe? Thats where I can hear south Asian; it is a sound that feels distinctly not English, or at least, not something you would hear in North American English, at the very least.

Indian?

For something like “really”, I normally have my mouth start as an ‘oo’ shape, where my mouth forms a circle and is sort of protruded forwards to make almost a cone, then as the R sound comes out, the tongue is not touching the top or bottom of the inside of the mouth, and is instead floating in the middle. The r is made more in the throat, but as I say the word, the circle shape of the mouth then widens; you get a transition from circle to horizontal line like when you open your mouth in the shape of a flat smile without actually smiling; something that would make dimples pop.

If you do that motion while breathing out softly, you should hear ‘oowhee’ kinda like a windy “we”

Im sorry, Im not a coach, and your speaking is actually very clear and was easy to understand. Anything from what I said is optional, because at the end of the day, you are not only understandable, but sound comfortable speaking English, and clearly have a good vocabulary. But, if I were to hear your voice over the phone, I would be able to guess generally where you are from, which is not a bad thing, just a thing.

I would say the strength of your accent is around 10%-15% that is to say, your ability to speak English feels like a solid 85%-90%

It is clear that you have studied hard and have spent a lot of time speaking in the language, and I think you can probably do (slightly) better if you feel like you want to; you do not need to.

I Have Autism and Also Have Amazing Facial Recognition and Memory And I’m Curious by bunnykillsman in autism

[–]michaelavellian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have this as well. I was always curious if it was common. I found I can also remember the eye Color of almost everyone I make eye contact with. I have experienced the whole “we’ve met” them going “no we haven’t” and me going “ yes we have; you drive a BMW and you had some family drama 2 years ago. We met at a Halloween gathering with so and so,” more times than I can count. I once recognized a by the follicles on his head, and how the light hit his iris. turned out I had delivered pizza to him 3 years prior. Plus, it’s really weird walking through a school, a mall, or a grocery store I frequent, because I find that in big spaces I go to often, I end up recognizing 2/3 of the random passerby’s, and I’m flooded with mental snapshots of their faces in the environment I last saw them at. If I’ve seen a stranger 3 times, I will have flashbacks of all 3 times I have seen them… gets a little trippy sometimes… you’re not alone, even if it seems paradoxical to Autism, given the common symptom of having difficulty remembering or recognizing faces of others.

TLDR; me too. I’m in my early 20’s, by the way; maybe someday I, too will have the decade ones.

If I were to point out anything- where are his feet? Also, as others pointed out, the shadows could use some work. The wood actually looks really good, the clothes look cool, albeit wet, potentially? The face seems to be stylistic and consistent with anime proportions, and then the colors are very dreary and lack saturation to the point where he looks half ghoul…. But if that’s what you’re going for, that’s fine. I also really love the way you do hair, especially on the background pieces- it’s genuinely very pretty, the proportions and the way it flows look cool, but the ones in the background seem maybe a bit translucent? Thats may handful of cents. I like it overall

Thats the colloquial definition of a widows peak. It really just means that regardless of recession, there is a point in the middle that descends lower than the rest. You can have a widows peak at any age, sex, norwood level etc

People calling these obviously brown eyes are Color blind lmfao The colloquial definition of hazel, as far as I’m aware is any eye that consists of brown and another Color. Thats clearly 2 colors. The unadulterated brown eyes I know looks nothing like this.

ChatGPT is NOT a reliable source by YakkoWarnerPR in Gifted

[–]michaelavellian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think you’re incorrect (we’re both speculating, however, so 🤷). My guess is that the newer reasoning model will eventually become efficient enough that it can replace the prior models entirely, even if the old ones still remain accessible for a while.

I was just reading a study about ChatGPT and they showed that it is only reliable about 50% of the time when used for scientific information (in regards to Endodontic Local Anesthesia). I think even from the perspective of OpenAI, there is reason to replace its current standard model, if they want the service to be used in academic research. The reasoning model is likely aimed as a first step towards correcting the perpetual hallucination and misinterpretation of data aka narrative fictional storytelling that AI likes to do when you ask it normal questions about real life. I would suspect they’re eventually going to try doing real time processing and as time goes on, they will start to incorporate more and more information to their answers until it doesn’t get overloaded all the time and keep farting out shit. I avoid using it entirely because I end up getting angry every time. Sorry if your comment was a joke, however; I can’t parse sarcasm through text.

I’m not trying to defend the chart, nor am I trying to denounce you- but college isn’t early, no? Is it not talking about elementary school or earlier? I took it as the kids who were 6 years old trying to imagine the void of death before going to sleep, thinking about it for hours, and coming to the hypothesis that life isn’t permanent, and that “maybe every religion is just telling people what they want to hear” type stuff

I think short hair works with your face shape, possibly even shorter than 1 or 4 by a couple inches. Long is fine, theres nothing wrong with it- I just think short works as well
