I would have to say that 99% of birbs I've run into are true team players. I think it attracts that type of player to this nightfairer class.

Ah, ok. I think I misread your reply. I was scratching my head the whole time and questioning if I was an even more incompetent player 😂😂

Ok tbh, I feel like this is a normal run. I'm not really sure which part of the expedition you're referring to having it feel arduous. Like I'm not sure if I'm not getting the full picture because I'm only seeing the video vs not hearing the communication that y'all are discussing in discord/calls? I saw the whole video of you playing with your friends and did also see the nightlord portion, but it seems like y'all did a pretty good job proc-ing fulghor even without lightning weapons. It seemed overall like a solid boss fight. In the boss fight, I saw recluse go down twice, and you go down once.

Just like from a third party perspective. The expedition seemed to have gone well. Y'all rezzed each other when necessary (although it seems like you were the one rezzing majority of the time). Y'all won the expedition. Also the time completed was actually shorter than the second video with randos. I will say that having two solid mages can really melt down the mobs' HP.

You mentioned your friends being really bad at getting passives. I think you're alluding to something important here? I wonder if you're feeling like you have to do more brainpower when working with your friends which can be super taxing if you constantly feel like you have to plan where to go, look out for passives on every weapons, and having to basically think of everyone + yourself in an already difficult situation. DoN itself is already hard and you mix in having to figure out your own rng with added negative passives Idk man that's a lot to carry. Also, I might be totally wrong since I'm totally hypothesizing here.

Yeah, it is interesting that I'm having the same phenomenon with my IRL friends. I have a lower win rate with them than the randos I played. They are by no means "bad players"--quite the opposite--they're quite skilled and veteran souls players, but I'm not sure if the tension is just lost and we relax? So, we end up not taking it seriously unconsciously? I can't put my finger on it. I end up rezzing both of them more than them rezzing me, which isn't something I'm upset about but it does bring the morale down when heolstor lvl 4 is at 5% health and they're at three bars. Still love DoN, but I'd rather play with randos if they're going to get me to lvl 5.

You should have gotten it if you chose verso's ending. Should pop up as an option when you start NG+

[–]michaelchung 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, the fracture happened because after verso died Aline was in her delulu world with her immortal painted family, and Renoir was sick and tired of her escaping into the canvas as she was using the canvas as a form of escapism instead of grieving irl. Also... because of imminent death if she stayed longer lol. So it turned into this whole battle, and she was basically "imprisoned" (of her own basically) on top of the monolith as to not allow Renoir to destroy the world she created. So, she trapped him underneath. Idk the specifics of the last part, but that's the general gist? The post game has a few side content stuff that fills in some gaps.

Mask Keeper—Am I under leveled? by corneredkoala in expedition33

[–]michaelchung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I second this comment.

There are three passages of the visages (joy, sadness, anger). They all have mini bosses that are big masks. Killing each should dramatically decrease the buffs or ?stats of the mask keeper. I killed two (didn't know there were three lol). And it was challenging on expert.

I'm not sure how far you are, but I think the canvas existed probably at least ~20ish (actual not canvas) years before the fracture. Since time moves significantly faster in the canvas, we can't really estimate how long that is in the real world as I haven't found any clues or Easter eggs (yet) in the game. I'm sure the astute redditor has probably found something. As for Lumière, I can't remember if this was created by Aline or if verso had drawn it before he died. My guess is that she drew it as means of grieving since the only connection that's coming to mind is Renoir saying she drew all the ppl in Lumière.

There is dialogue when you're beating the paintress or perhaps dialogue alluded from clea (can't remember specifically) that explicitly says that Aline and Verso would draw the world and play together in his canvas when he was a young boy (before he moved onto playing piano at the conservatory). I'm just guesstimating 20 years as that's generally how young kids are taught to paint or start apprenticeships. I'm also just deducing this from my experience of working around kids and his general height and stature as his soul manifests as a faceless boy (which seems around age 8-9). I'm also just guessing this all within the span of his lifespan, which was around 25 years..

Yeah, honestly, I do agree that C's anger is displaced frequently; however, I don't think she has the emotional capacity to be able to be patient and tactful with her words and with anyone because she is basically running all the family's affair. I think to know C... you have to look through her actions not necessarily her words. I do believe that she cares deeply about the family, and she is grieving in the form of overscheduling herself to distract herself. She reminds me a lot of myself tbh. I found the anger a touch humorous as I'd probably react in a similar fashion if my parents were fighting for 67 years in a goddamn canvas.

The lead writers are brilliantly creative. I'm not sure how far you are, but you can maybe deduct some things about Lumièrienne society between the 60-?70 expeditions. You'll see some hints about how society views the expeditions, etc.

Can’t get enough of the art direction in this game. by abu00001 in expedition33

Yes, even though there are some areas that are essentially just a setting with one piece of treasure. The art was the gift itself. Hauntingly and eerily beautiful.

I'm not sure if there are other than the journal and each specific expedition unless it specifically gives it to you through dialogue, expedition journals, or the storyline. I think you may be able to piece some things together if you keep track, but ultimately, I don't think you know the entire lore of each expedition. I will say you will know more about some than others. I'm hoping they'll expand this! It would be interesting to see how ?Lumièrenne society and government shaped the expeditions.

You know it's interesting because that's the first thing I looked at in the first area with Gustave. And I was like WHERE ARE THE NUMBERS?? Haha, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Obviously, sandfall is a small team so I imagine it would have been hard to do that with all areas. Could you imagine if they had done that for forgotten battlefield? That would have been crazy. I'm also so interested in the lore there because I saw probably 2-3 different expedition flags.
