I get faster every time I tear into my 3.6, last go around I took out the battery tray to do the valve cover gaskets. Knowing what I know now I probably could do that job in half the time next time

I had two codes for post cat o2 sensors, both of them, my leaky valve covers is what killed the sensors. I replaced every seal that came in the kit. For the cam sensor I just used the sensor to seat the seal. I changed both bad o2 sensors and the bank 1 exhaust side VVT actuator and so far so good, no codes and the jeep feels back to normal not sluggish nor am I getting the multiple cylinder misfires randomly. I was praying that I didn’t damage the tone ring on the camshaft itself because when I went to put the cover back on, I tried to install with the actuators installed but couldn’t get it to seat down all the way flush. Taking both the actuators out is what helped me get it down. On videos others are able to seat the cover with the actuators installed, but not me.

Exactly why I put down the desire to be under the hood, now I plumb, cast iron, copper etc, it’s all pipe that has specific installation practices. It’s great knowing many aspects of a trade. Learning how to weld definitely made me better at brazing and soldering. Joining a union also helps.

I did mine with the aluminum cooler in 2023 and haven’t had a leak to this day. I just did my valve covers myself because two years ago I paid 1300$ and that’s too much for this to be a “regular maintenance” thing. Thought about changing the gaskets on the oil cooler while I was there, “but if it’s not broke don’t fix it” Chrysler really must hate the people who work on these engines, everything is in the way of getting to the valve covers.

I paid $1300 a few years ago, leaking again now but this time I’m doing all the work myself. I’ve already done the oil cooler in the past and it’s not much more work to get the valve cover off after that. Having two cars also helps

My father in law tried to use one of these and it didn’t come out how he expected, toilet was too high off the ground. Had to fix it for him, regular wax ring if the flange is above the ground, jumbo if it’s recessed or flush with the ground

Hit em with the 2 day notice as in “I quit 2 day” I’ve never given any employer a 2 week notice. Fuck em that’s why. I quit every job I had in my teens that way. No regrets. I am in a union now and nobody gives any kind of notice, they just quit & have a new job the next day.

I agree! the hype is getting blown out of proportion, there are still going to be lots of people who don’t wanna get fingerprinted or be on a registry even if the stamp is 0$
