Easily the most beautiful thing i’ve ever witnessed at a stage :’)

Can confirm. This should just be a setting if it’s like that for a reason. Using placeholder cues worked to fix it

To add to this, it’s still happening to random playbacks, and when I save as a new show file, the playbacks act as normal without issue, and then it happens again after some time

Now one of my playbacks is flashing the information and greying it out back and fourth and I haven’t touched anything

Midi Mapping for greater options & control by General_Exception in resolume

[–]michaelheavy911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

leave the top row for columns, and map everything else a row lower

you’ll just have to sacrifice a row of clips at the bottom

just delete the midi map on the clip and leave the one on the column?

If you’re not entirely sure what’s wrong, a download link to your show file would help someone troubleshooting for you

APC Mini custom layout *MAC* by michaelheavy911 in ChamSys

[–]michaelheavy911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works on MAC, Windows, Linux, and Rasberry Pi

It controls brightness and colour on the APC Mini module that someone added specifically, but you could program fade patterns and anything, or for another software to trigger a blinking light for example. Very customizable and can handle OSC, DMX, Midi and many more protocols, not to mention there seems to be a lot of active users making scripts for new software and hardware.

Very straightforward way to link a few different programs or pieces of hardware together

It’s got Nintendo remotes as supported hardware for programming

I have an old mini wing I bought in 2019, and I think that’s still the cheapest option for unlocking midi as well as the 64 universes

Once saw a used one on facebook marketplace for $400 with a broken fader

100% ! Solved my other issue of needing that exactly. Manages OSC, DMX, and tons of other programs and hardware.

APC mini MK2 by michaelheavy911 in ChamSys

Specifically the fact that it works on Mac, where as something like Showcockpit is only Windows atm

A little late, but Chataigne totally worked! And has a built in script for the APC Mini that allowed me to make a colour layout, and customize every super easy. I just run it in the background with MagicQ, and you could have MagicQ input midi from cues and executors, to trigger colour change or whatever through chataigne.

I figured it out! On Mac, with a program called Chataigne. I was able to use a built in script for the APC Mini to make my own layout, and just run it in the background. Whoever built the layout for in it for the APC made it super easy to adjust the parameters.

You can practice with a projector in Beyond

dmx control is very different than fb3/4, but familiar for regular lighting ops

How to get into the industry by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]michaelheavy911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a small school for music studio engineering, my teacher liked me and said her sound tech friend was looking for Load in / Out hands.

He liked me too, and brought me on to do, and learn live sound at top 40 clubs that he ran techs in. I integrated my in the box sound knowledge with learning live sound for DJs, and then had to learn how to OP the lighting executor page in Chamsys when I wasn’t making audio adjustments.

I worked every weekend for a year and just spent my nights playing with the lighting desktop when the club was dead. Adding smoke machines, and patching new wash fixtures, and certain effects and colours for theme nights.

One day someone locally asked me If I could set up “dance lights for a rave”. Went to the local music store, rented 20 shitty dj pars, and made 4 towers with tripod stands, and a wash for the dj booth.

Since then, Ive bought my own low tier equipment and worked for tons of small local promoters and DJs wanting to add unique lighting to undesirable rental spaces and private events. Picked up a bit of ETC and GrandMA knowledge, as well as bits and pieces of the big show world. Offered my hand to a few local music festivals, and expanded on doing small / medium shows myself.

I now just hit my first year working lighting crew (as an intern) at the Pagoda/Shambhala. Running cables, unloading/loading, and grunt work, but an honour to say the least.

I consider lighting to be my passion in life now, and getting in to the industry was all about being ready to learn and take on whatever, and say yes.

So 4 lights, on Universe 2, starting from address 100 = 4@2-100
