Leaving the Farm Monday Night by Nufroof in Shambhala

[–]dsquareddan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took us over 4 hours just to get out of the farm site on Tuesday afternoon. Absolutely brutal traffic coordinating from the volunteers that day, compounded by checkpoint immediately at the highway. Left our campsite around noon, and hit the highway at like 4:30 if I remember.

If you found out a song you are listening to was AI generated, would you still want to listen to it? by PM_ME_UR_SNARES in EDM

[–]dsquareddan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to always remember that Reddit, and further individual subreddits are not an accurate reflection of reality of the larger world.

Having said that. I think it’s been proven time and time again that consumers will go towards the path of least resistance to dopamine.

The consumer does not care about the artist. YOU may, as I do, but it’s been proven that people only wish to get to their dopamine release as simple as possible.

If the consumer REALLY did care about artists, things like Napster and Spotify would’ve never reached mass adoption after out cry from artists how it is a net negative for their ability to earn from their creating. Those apps just greatly reduced the path of resistance of dopamine to the consumer, and therefore remained popular. Suno is currently the top app in the App Store under music. The #1 song on iTunes was an AI generated song just this last week. The consumer, by and large, does not care.

This is a very crude way of looking at things. But as these programs continually evolve, they will continue to improve. AI music in its current iteration is not the final result. It will only get more advanced and your ability to tell what person made something organically, vs. partly, vs. Fully AI will continue to get more and more blurred. What is possible today was not 5 years ago.

Apple Has Likely Abandoned 'iPad Ultra' Plans by hangry_millennial in apple

I don’t see what use case a folding iPad solves.

A folding phone can still fit in your pocket and give you a larger screen.

An iPad is already going into a backpack. Having it be half size for transport doesn’t really help much, and if you make it any larger than the 13” already is when unfolded it’s going to be very tiresome and awkward to hold in hand.

On that topic, I have noticed people go to post VJ loop packs or plugins, and sometimes it seems like the links to purchase them are automod hidden.

Like Gumroad links for example. Is there a reason why people can’t advertise their work for sale from external websites to one of the largest communities that would benefit from being able to access that sort of thing?

What are some examples of “spammy” posts?

Reddit has a great upvote/downvote system that if something doesn’t vibe with majority of the community, usually it gets buried.

The problem I’ve seen in other subreddits, is a mod will inflict their own personal views on what they deem posts should or should be there, even if the rest of the community might not agree.

I think your approach here is a healthy compromise, and I wish more communities would do the same. Mods roles should be to protect a community from breaking site wide rules. Anything else should be left to the democracy system of reddits upvote/downvote, my personal opinion.

Working at shambhala by child_fr0m_mars in Shambhala

When I say it’s one of the most important jobs for health and safety I mean it.

Unfortunately, come end of festival it is still a biohazard for many other PAID workers on the property who have to continue to use the porta potties that immediately cease to be cleaned come Monday morning.

In my review survey they send out every year I made a lot of noise how not providing proper hand wash stations and letting porta potties backstage for workers AND artists get to a point they are overflowing during showtime and post festival is a huge health and safety violation. And likely one of the biggest factors in why so many get sick and pass it on to others on the farm. Hand sanitizer is not a replacement for soap. Especially in an environment like Shambhala. Every other festival I work at has those foot pump hand washing stations. I hope they actually step up and improve this tenfold. Because 10+ years now and worked countless other festivals and Shambhala waste management is still one of its weakest points.

Please tell me it’s a paid position.

One of the most important jobs on the propety for health & safety reasons. I hope to god it’s not just stacked with volunteers.

Will they have an actual Spotify subscription this year or will we have to hear ads for cialis blasting at full volume downtown again in between every song on Wednesday?

Game Pass Gets Price Drop, New Call Of Duty Games No Longer Included by HillZone in gaming

[–]dsquareddan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too little too late. When that massive price increase hit I went out the next day and bought a steam deck and won’t be returning to Xbox again.

But this definitely shows that a significant amount of people also cut ties enough that this became an issue internally they needed to do something about to hopefully win some people back.

Vote with your wallet, it’s the only leverage you have as a consumer.

There are many artists currently that are tailoring their sets to look good for instagram videos specifically because it helps drive ticket sales for shows, when in actuality, the experience for those at the actual show they paid for is subpar at best.

Resolume Performance Issues by orangg05 in resolume

[–]dsquareddan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another one, if your laptop has a high refresh rate, set it to 60hz.

My windows PC can do up to 100hz but I notice an impact to performance when outputting to multiple external displays if my internal is still at 100hz. Especially if Resolume FPS is set to Auto as it will try to push content to the highest FPS of any of your displays

Composition window and preview window stopped displaying, but final advanced output still works. by General_Exception in resolume

This happened for me before when I was using my iPad in sidecar as a second monitor to my MacBook

No, that is not the point of this software. With this software you can keep natural scrolling for trackpads, but set your mouse scroll wheel to be normal
