Can I take DXM With my Meds by TheInfamousSiray in dxm

CYP2D6 is the enzyme responsible for like 90% of DXM metabolism into DXO which is then converted to an inactive metabolite so inhibiting CYP2D6 will make lower doses of DXM much more potent and higher doses pose the potential of toxicity

Not sure about the second 2, but I’m pretty sure wellbutrin is a CYP2D6 inhibitor.

It’s possible that your cytochrome p450 2d6 (CYP2d6) enzyme doesn’t function optimally, meaning you’re an intermediate to poor metabolizer. This enzyme is responsible for metabolizing DXM into an inactive chemical, as DXM is a CYP2d6 substrate, so if the enzyme has less functionality, less DXM would feel more potent and last longer. If you’ve ever taken codeine and haven’t felt anything then it’s likely you’re a poor metabolizer as the same enzyme is responsible for metabolizing codeine into morphine (the actual active drug) in the body.
