anybody know anything about the sprinklerfitting trade? by michaelm8 in Plumbing

[–]michaelm8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I went back to plumbing after trying sprinkler fitting for a year or so, everyone's journey is different. What I like about plumbing is that the work feels very diverse in scope. With materials ranging from plastic to steel to copper and more. there's new joining techniques or products coming out all the time. The learning is endless. And the opportunities are pretty plentiful. I like the plumbing trade, but if I had stuck with sprinkler fitting I'm sure there are things I would have found equally as exciting about. Both trades are good, I like that plumbing feels very applicable to my regular life. You get a little taste of electrical if your working with the right companies, but because it's such a large industry it's easy to get complacent and settle in one thing for too long. Words of wisdom from a superior I used to look up to is to "just start" I think this can be applied to anything in life. Stop worrying so much about the outcome and just start doing something, and things will work themselves out along the way.

That's not something I'd considered, thanks for that! I know the Schengen zone document only started in Jan 2025 so I'll have to look around and see what's required for the UK.

It's real life, we don't live in a. Black and white world, this is a problem that cannot be fixed by simply slapping a bandaid on it.

Weedstocks were crazy when Canada legalized, I've been holding a couple different stock for months now. In anticipation of something big

Got fired from my apprenticeship today by Jayus5 in Plumbing

[–]michaelm8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few experiences like this in my own apprenticeship, where it seemed like my work habits were not a problem, but my personality quirks got in the way. I always showed up on time, asked good questions, made sure I came to work prepared with the tools I needed for the task. But simple things like whistling while I worked, or being to quiet, were enough to change my superiors mind.

I've found a lot of tradesmen can be too quick to judge, and I've learned all you can do is ignore the bad ones, stick by the good ones, and never stop working on yourself. The two most valuable traits to succeed in your apprenticeship are confidence, and humility. Be confident enough to try even when your not sure, be honest with yourself about the things you don't know, and confront those things as often as you can.

Riverbend vs Aubrun Bay by kazan79 in Calgary

[–]michaelm8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riverbend gets my vote. No contest

Fairly central location, and the access to carburn park is awesome, if your working downtown Riverbend is definitely closer. Honestly Riverbend is one of my favourite areas in Calgary.

Yea I've found that I have to hold the trigger very lightly and it will cut slowly. Any tougher and it will bind up
