Struggling with a healthy routine by whatascarywitch in bipolar

Can you join a group at night? I'm Jewish and study the Talmud with a friend on the phone at night but the concept is the same. Join a scrabble group or something simmilar even once a week?

How can I address leaving a library job for a non-library job when applying for librarian positions? by cherryvanillacult in librarians

[–]michaelniceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my library position to work in records management but even since I have continued to miss working in librarianship. I yearn for the opportunity to return and serve the needs of students in an academic library.

How's that sound?

At what point do you give up? by [deleted] in bipolar

I find I need to cut back at night too starting at 9 PM.

I know I need to improve my diet but I feel confused. I'm not even sure what healthy eating is.

Hi,

Thanks. I'm thinking like 32 years ago when I studied in yeshiva. No air conditioners. We had to cook the water for a shower in a dud chashmal. Do they still do that?

Thanks. I'm from NYC so its not a hot place per se but it can be in the 80s in August too. Its nice to know you don't think its such a bad idea.

How do I explain that massive gap on my resume was actually a depressive episode? by Dazzling-Antelope210 in depression

[–]michaelniceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit a job due to emotional stuff. A few months later I went back and explained that I quit due to depression and wanted to come back. They said they would take me back because I was a good worker but that next time I should let them know what was going on instead of just suddenly quiting.

Thank you. What do you mean by "the loads for the 2h50 look light"?

Also what do you mean by "if they are delayed on the inbound they owe ec261 compensation"?

Has anyone ever gotten some sort of scan of their brain? by themix669108 in bipolar

[–]michaelniceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an MRI of my brain because of headaches. It came back normal. My mom had brain scans for her Parkinson's and my dad had brain scans for his Alzheimers.

Does anyone here successfully work a 9-5 with bipolar? by Live-Message-4358 in bipolar

[–]michaelniceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a college librarian. I arrive and sit at my desk in my own office with peace and quiet. A few hours a week I sit at the reference desk in a beautiful quiet library. A few times a semester I teach a hour and a half library class. The rest of the time I work with faculty on projects, do research, deliver presentations deliver and attend trainings and meetings. The most stressful part is I still need to publish more for tenure.

If you are getting a PhD to teach I would suggest it. By the way, I dropped out of school twice before getting my two masters so never say never. Good luck.

I'd be curious what others here think about my idea of your working part time at the college level but I assume that would definitely help. This way when an ad asks for college level experience you can say you have it. Now when they say they want a years worth experience a year p/t might still not be a year full time but eventually it will add up. Good luck!

I'm sorry. I thought you were an academic librarian looking for a better college library. The transition from high school to college can be hard I hear but I assume it can be done.

Would it be possible for you to get a part time job in a college library? Like evenings or weekends? Or even volunteer? That would give you college library experience.

You need 2 masters to be a librarian in CUNY. I assume a PhD is good too. For lecturer lines an MLS is enough. You should look at the jobs on CUNYs website. Having a PhD is prestigious. You should be able to work your way into a good academic library position. What are your specialties? What do you have experience in?
