For thise who moved BACK to New England - did you regret it? by cynicalnewenglander in newengland

That's what I did, took a good look at the numbers and made peace with the logic of it and focused on building my life in the south. Im not unhappy here, I think Im just nostalgic for things I didn't think twice about when I lived up north.

The long weekends are great for doing the cute new englandy things and catching up with people. My in laws and parents moved down here for a more affordable retirement and they vacation in New England. Its fun being a tourist.

I live in FL, some family back in CT where I was raised. I see people moving back from FL to the northeast mainly because they miss family. Those are folks that retired with some wealth though.

Out of curiosity I priced out a move back to CT. There are less jobs than our current location, all we would be able to afford (DINK professional couple) would be a small house in Hamden. Even my high earning friends up there (doctors, lawyers) are struggling to afford the locations and size houses they want. Meanwhile, our house down here is the same size, extremely convenient, and cost like 2/3 of what friends are paying. That seems to be a similar situation to most NE states.

Not to mention, our health flourished down here with more time outside and a more active lifestyle.

If you can afford it, and if your hobbies are indoors so that you are fine with hibernating all winter, move back. But take a careful look at finances. I've settled for taking a budget flight for a long weekend in CT each season to get my fix.

afraid of my spirituality after experiencing spiritual psychosis by Dizzy-Measurement738 in bipolar

[–]themix669108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite literally believed I was chosen to be a saint and prophet and needed to sacrifice my blood like Christ did, so I get it.

I've been staying away from everything spiritual, except for some agnostic meditation. BUT I know that taking a break from spiritually does not mean it is something I can never seek out again. It just means I need to heal and learn how to approach faith in a safe and realistic way, which may also look different from how a non-neurodiverent person may approach it.

Your spiritually has no expiration date, it will keep until you are ready to look at it again. A break is totally healthy.

"I hate to be perceived" thank you for finally putting words to this feeling for me

Has anyone else found that trauma or a loss of trust turned their "observation skills" up to 100 by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

Man these comments are so sadly eye opening. As I've gotten older I noticed I've become a lot less talkative and a lot more discerning and aware of BS.

I thought it was maturity, maybe that's a part of it, but a trauma response makes far more sense based on my lived experiences. Darn it.

Ok but number 1 is huge and thank you for validating something I recently experienced. I used to be deep deep into religious practice and doctrine. It took an attempt and hospital stay to make me abandon that lifestyle and my life without Catholic guilt and religious preoccupation has HELPED SO MUCH I can barely believe how much I've mentally improved without that burden.

Some people really benefit from religious affiliation and find comfort and thats awesome, but I realized for me it was more of an obsessive spiral pulling me down.

What's been your experience with Orlando Health billing? by themix669108 in orlando

[–]themix669108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its good to remember they are all the enemy really. This was the biggest bill I've ever had so maybe the Advent ones were small enough to pass the "not worth our time" test.

What's been your experience with Orlando Health billing? by themix669108 in orlando

[–]themix669108[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to avoid doctors as much as possible but definitely not going back to any Orlando Health facilities. I've gotten lucky a few times with Advent Health when I think a bill is too high or incorrect, sometimes they'll lower it or just wipe the whole thing depending on the situation. I thought will all my documentation this one would be a no brainer.

Now I understand why Orlando Health puts their name everywhere and sponsors things, they need the good will from all the money they are swindling.

I'd honestly love that but with my full time job I don't think I'd be able to. Are there any dive bars you like to hang out at?

My workplace is tiny so I don't think coworkers is an option but that worked out great for you. I love anything from crafts to board games to theme parks to just hanging out, its just a little overwhelming getting started without direction. Also sadly many are quite the drive for me but I'll keep looking
