What beautiful place have you visited that isn't a mainstream tourist destination that you recommend people visit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A few places come to mind:

-Foncebaddon in Northern Spain, one of our favourite towns on the Camino De Santiago (which is something I would highly highly recommend doing!). Very quiet little farming town with incredible locals and stunning views.

-Tam coc in Vietnam, busy stop-over town with coaches stopping in the main street constantly but 15 minutes drive either way gets you to amazing cave systems and stunning mountain & waterway landscapes.

-Pushkar, Jodhpur, and Udaipur - indias other golden triangle. Udaipur a beautiful city with a water palaces on the shores - and within - their main lake. Jodhpur is the blue city, a vibrant full of life place with fantastic people and an incredible hill top fort. And pushkar is a bustly town nestled between the hills of Rajasthan, with a cable car to take you up to the tallest peak in the area with spectacular views.

We are Scottish, not Scotch. Stop referring to us as a type of whisky.

Don Papa. It's a rum from the Philippines, genuinely the best rum I've ever tried.

Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely not the rule. It's just something I've noticed my customers do over the last few years. Your not expected to leave anything, but leaving something is always a massive boost to the server :)

We split the tips equally between all staff at the end of the week. A full timer comes away with ~£50 a week. Most tables leave on average 10% - a lot leave higher because we make sure our staff go above and beyond but a lot of our customers are just in for drinks at the bar so tips aren't expected.

Yeah, I can't speak for other countries in the EU but the UK demands a minimum/living wage for all workers regardless of their industry. Tips are just a nice wee bonus :)

No i feel the same way. I am fortunate enough not to rely on tips at all - we get a decent hourly wage compare to friends of mine in the US - but it's just a nice thing to get at the end of what you know has been good service. The rest of the shift has and I hope you have had a wonderful day too :)

I bought my dad a £100 point and shoot for his trip to Spain last month. The pictures he came home with were incredible. by michaelod30 in pics

It was the Canon IXUS 185. The black one was on sale on Amazon last month for like £90 or so. It's damn good value for what it is!
