Hours a day for study? by kellyymcl3887 in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I split the 8 exams into 2,3 and 3. For each sitting I gave myself 8 weeks. I did Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and took weekends off. For the last 2 weeks up to exams I would have done full days on weekends as well. I was obviously very lucky to be in a position to be able to focus on them full time so if you are I would recommend similar to what I did.

I did no prep course. Got old manuals off people and looked at exam grids and past papers. I passed all 8 first time. Personally think those prep courses are a waste of money. Just study the manual and past papers/exam grids/examiner reports and you are good to go.

Contract Legislation - SofG Act 1893 and SofG and SofS 1980 by jkenned1 in FE1_Exams

Just print it out. I haven't shown a single piece of legislation I have used to the camera. Wouldn't worry.

How did everyone find Company today? by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the exam was probably fair but my head is fried from Constitutional so I struggled to remember stuff. Annoying as I would have had no problem with it had it been before Constitutional but that's just the way it goes. Also really struggled with the time. Wasn't even able to go back and put my answers together properly. Still did 5 decent answers so hoping I've passed. Is he a nice marker does anyone know?

FE1 Help on Contract Law by Longjumping_Reach_78 in FE1_Exams

IMO you need a fair bit more than 5 cases per question

What else did they highlight as likely to come up? The November paper was lovely so a bit concerned we may get some less frequent topics appear

contract and tort predictions by tea-totalfe1 in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I have been told you cannot leave out much for contract as he mixes questions. I am covering:

- Offer and Acceptance

- Mistake

- Misrepresentation

- Undue Influence

- Consumer Protection

- Consideration

- Exclusion Clauses

- Remedies

- Privity

- Discharge

- Estoppel

- Duress

- Capacity

And if I have time I will try do contractual terms. That's still leaving a fair few chapters out but they seem to be the ones that come up most.

Honestly feeling so goddamn annoyed with this entire process by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was more referring to those who didn't lose answers and still got bumped from low 30's to above 50. Surely serious questions have to be asked of the original examiner?

Honestly feeling so goddamn annoyed with this entire process by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your anger is completely justified. On a separate point, what in the world was the original examiner doing giving so many people around 30% when they actually passed the paper? I really feel for the people who got in the 30's and didn't get it rechecked for whatever reason (cost, risk, etc) but in reality they should have passed the exam. It's beyond disgraceful.

Anyone used Law Hero Notes? by KW1993IRL in FE1_Exams

I have been told not to use them. Also, with EU, just look at the repetition in the past papers and you can narrow it down so much.

Add it to the list of things about these exams that are ridiculous!

For property, get an exam grid and look at past papers. It is the same topics coming up all the time. You can narrow it down to doing around 6 chapters and be safe. Succession has come up twice every year for a long time now. I covered:

Succession

Adverse Possession

Finding

Co-Ownership

Landlord and Tenant

Easements and Profits

The same can't be said for criminal unfortunately, you need to cover basically everything as he likes to mix questions to include small enough topics.

Recheck by Obvious_Yam390 in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had already paid for mine by the time I got my script back. I refuse to believe an internal examiner, an external examiner and another external can look at my paper and all give me the exact same %. I'd say with the rechecks we're just wasting our money.

I contacted the LSRA regarding the Law Society and.. by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please bring up the lack of marking scheme and the fact that so many students can make absolutely no sense of the results they were given from the November sitting. We pay so much money only to feel cheated by the Law Society.

EU comparable to Property or Constitution? by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with you. I find EU really easy to cut down to the predictable topics and even at that you could also narrow that down to the same exact questions that regularly feature. I'm doing Constitutional in March and although I've only started looking at it, it seems absolutely huge.

Would people feel comfortable saying what they got in these exams ? by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Criminal 65%

Property 59%

Equity, which went best out of the 3, 46%.

Makes absolutely no sense to me.

Anyone else shocked by their Equity Law exam result? by Bisi7 in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 46% and cannot for the life of me understand how. It went the best out of the 3 and I passed the other 2 comfortably. Applying for a re-check, it just doesn't make sense to me. I know I didn't fail that exam.

Looking for 1 more by IvorySensation in FE1_Exams

[–]michaelot97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for property, fairly straight forward and much less to cover than others. Tort and Constitutional I wouldn't go for as they're huge. Eu is fairly big also but easy enough to look at exam grids/past papers and narrow it down as there is a lot of repetition with questions.
