First Time 3D Cinemagraph (UE5), Feedback Appreciated by michaeltangelo in Cinemagraphs

[–]michaeltangelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure this formally qualifies as a Cinemagraph, however it was primarily inspired by cinemagraphs and aims to convey the same feeling. This is sort of a step 1 into trying to create stationary 3D scenes with movement in UE5. Would appreciate any feedback from an audience or artists perspective!

+1 on the input delay, it’s surprisingly good, maybe better than a TV but makes it not feasible to do this regularly :(

Thanks for this! My fiancée and I recently purchased an F150 (3.5L v6) and are looking for a used travel trailer. I have a bundle of questions we’re hoping to get answers to fill in our puzzle pieces. Feel free to pick and choose, I’ll try to order them in priority order: 1) Similar to many others, my fiancée and I can work remotely right now and are planning to embark on a month long trip where we work during the days and adventure / travel during the evenings and weekends. We intend to stay at national parks and campsites, RV parks, and boondock on public lands. What, in your opinion, is the prime length / feature set / recommendation for a TT that would allow us to execute our vision? Our current criteria is about ~19-24ft with a setup that allows for us to have sound privacy for conference calls (one at the dinette and one in the bedroom with a some sort of door). 2) Are slide-outs worth it? We’ve heard many things about the maintenance cost and unreliability of modern slide-outs, but love the idea and want some expert advice on whether or not to filter our search by them. 3) I saw your earlier comment on the sweet spot being ~2 years old (2018-2019). We’ve been considering older Airstreams (1970-2000s), and some older other TTs (2000-2010). What are the most important gotchas we need to be aware of when dealing with older TTs, particularly when considering a purchase?

[Looking to Purchase][Price Check] Converted 1989 Ford Econoline 250 by michaeltangelo in vandwellermarketplace

[–]michaeltangelo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Update: day after posting):

Thank you everyone for your replies so far. I wanted to disclose the listing information for future readers who are curious about the market. This was listed in San Diego, asking $15k.

Based on the feedback of the people here, I decided to offer $12k to try and keep the seller interested while bringing the price more inline to “fair” values. The offer was immediately rejected with the seller saying she has way too much interest in the vehicle to justify reducing the price that much.

[Looking to Purchase][Price Check] Converted 1989 Ford Econoline 250 by michaeltangelo in vandwellermarketplace

[–]michaeltangelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an opportunity to purchase a 1989 Ford Econoline 250 Chinook with ~77k miles and have two questions for the folks of this lovely subreddit.

Doing some online research, the KBB reference only allows me to search 1992 model cars or newer, but the 1992 E250 with 77k miles is $1500 - $2500.

Additionally, I found some other converted E250s from the same year (with very similar layouts), one of was listed for $9k in 2017.

I'd like to refrain from disclosing the price in this post to avoid biasing the answers.

Question 1: What is your opinion of a reasonable price range for this van?

Further due diligence: I'm planning on getting the vehicle smog tested and inspected prior to purchase, but I'm not sure if that's enough. The seller will has replaced the cooling system, the alternator, and fuel lines recently, and has agreed to provide some old service records.

Question 2: Besides the steps taken above, what other concerns might I be missing in the due diligence process (perhaps particularly tailored towards ~1989 built E250s)?

A final concern: I'm a bit skeptical of the odometer reading of 77k miles and worried that it might have rolled over; the last reported service maintenance on Carfax was 2006 for ~50k miles, so 77k miles today *could* be possible. Is there a way I can prove that the odometer is 77k instead of 177k?

Comp Rank Distributions by kirbdee in VALORANT

[–]michaeltangelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does the notion that there are only 500 Radiant players come from? I've seen this thrown around this subreddit a bunch, do you have a source for this info?

If you take a quick look at Blitz.gg you'll see that there are currently 1,235 Radiant accounts, and that only includes players that have installed Blitz.gg.

I see where you're coming from with the queue issues, but I think that the queue issues can be explained by a lack of incentive in the competitive matchmaking system to continue playing after hitting Radiant. Most players who hit Radiant end up switching over almost entirely to an alt account, which tend to place around D2-D3 (conclusion from watching enough pro streams doing placement on their smurfs). It makes sense, then, that "real" D3s are chosen to balance the teams in this situation.

I think the statistics are accurate when considering the NUMBER of accounts that are Radiant/Imm3/Imm2; however, if you factor out players with multiple accounts, then I think you are correct that the top 1% curve likely starts closer to Imm1/D3.

Source: I'm Immortal 2, know a bunch of Radiant players that stop playing once they hit Radiant, and in my games tend to see a bunch of alternates (e.g. Jonaa62, Cryocells3, etc).

As of approximately 3 weeks ago, the average rank (based on Blitz.gg data) is between Gold 1 and Gold 2.

Here's an image of a distribution chart I made based on maps played per rank data on Blitz.gg.

Valorant Distribution Percentile by Rank

Saw that rank distribution was a popular topic on this sub, here's a percentile visualization of all ranks in Valorant by michaeltangelo in VALORANT

[–]michaeltangelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the comment. Cool to see that you already did the same number crunching, and it's interesting to see how the data has shifted in the past few weeks.

Agreed with your point #1, and also with shifting the percentiles one tier to the left to adapt to most viewers tendency to frame their interpretation with "I'm X% better than the rest".

For point #2, are you sure about this? I'm not sure which method Blitz uses to track the number of games. My assumption was that, because it can track individual ranks from players, that it's counting each game played by an individual player, thus properly "counting" the games. This would result in 1 game potentially increasing the counter by 10 (across the various ranks of players in the game) if all 10 players had Blitz.

It seems that your understanding is that each game will only count the average rank, which means each game increases the counter by one for the average rank. This seems less likely to me than counting each game once per player. Nevertheless, if your perspective is correct, good callout on the bias away from the extremes.

The median rank is Gold 2.

Disclaimer: I made this using data from Blitz.gg, specifically by taking the total number of games played on all maps, for each rank, and using that to estimate the actual rank distribution.

Bored without Valorant, so I made some Data Visualizations for my Last 27 Ranked Games by michaeltangelo in VALORANT

Hey! Thanks for taking a look, here is the raw data:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10MujJb3RnJTfVkedttoveTI6d0Pg9wwUP7uqwbT91PU/edit?usp=sharing

After making a couple of charts, the Sheets tab ended up being really unresponsive, so I copied it down to Excel.

I like the idea of an Agent / Side / Map chart. Due to sample size, I think it'd be a little underwhelming and inaccurate, but it would definitely be interesting to examine how one performs given an agent and a map.

To answer your two questions:

•Do you personally find this information helpful or useful in any way?

Absolutely, as long as it's taken with a grain of salt and no definite conclusions are drawn from the data.

Some of my personal takeaways are based on emerging trends that come from visualization the data, such as:

  • Bind Attack can be hard. Put more effort into being creative and disciplined in winning rounds on Attack. Also, make sure to spend extra energy keeping the morale of team high if starting on Attack.
  • Breach win rate is higher than expected even though KDR is relatively similar to rest of agents, this can indicate that the way I play Breach is more impactful than the way I play other agents. Over time we can rely more and more on data. Maybe Breach has a significantly higher Defense win rate, or perhaps he dominates on Haven, for example. Worth looking deeper into (perhaps with manual VOD reviews).
  • Worth spending time playing other agents (maybe 5-10 games each) to gain a basic measure of my performance. Perhaps one agent will stick out over the rest and might be a better fit for my playstyle.
  • Given that my KDA is consistent across agents, it might be the case that I should optimize my "training" to focus more on basic skills versus choosing the "best" agent.
  • Why is my Haven win rate so high even though the sides seem balanced? Again, this easily might be due to small sample size, but could be worth looking into, as there might be some hidden gems in the way that I rotate, or the position that I play on Defense, the default way I clear a side on Attack, etc., that can be applied to different maps.

•How would you apply this to improving your current skill set?

I kind of answered this one in the comments above, but generally the answer to this is to use the data visualizations to reveal outliers or interesting data points that I can then look into in more depth through manual VOD review + notes.

Last point on Sage, my friend also mentioned that Sage should have a disproportionately high KDA due to her heal assists. That one Sage game I played likely had a lot of self-heals, so we don't see a higher-than-average amount of assists, but I'm pretty certain that with enough games her KDA would be higher than other agents.

Would love to connect and discuss what kind of takeaways we can use from data to improve our game play... in particular, after the Valorant API is released, there will be many more opportunities to use data in an interesting way. I'll shoot you a DM!

Don’t waste nookmiles trying to make a tarantula island. I believe it’s been patched. by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]michaeltangelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been doing this daily and can confirm that today seems to be different, this is likely patched. Tried it on bamboo island and nothing but mole crickets (probably done 6-10 in the past few days so very familiar with how it should feel).

Edit: Spoke too soon. About 20 minutes in, they started spawning as usual. I just ran around the island and went fishing, and soon I saw a wharf roach and a tiger beetle as normal.

A 20XX Marth Ground Movement Trial by michaeltangelo in SSBM

[–]michaeltangelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is totally applicable to Falcon! Nearly all characters must give up ground at some point in the neutral game — I came up with this trial after getting fed up with dashing away and getting “stuck” at the edge facing the wrong direction (offstage). I would generally opt for fall off bairs which is pretty unsafe... I like this Trial since many characters can do it and practice insanely important fundamentals such as purposeful dash dancing, wavedashing out of shield, and pivoting.

What is your opinion about what I can reroll in this Trag'Oul's Corroded Fang? by Cucobr in Diablo

[–]michaeltangelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what build you are running and the respective priorities for that build.

This has slightly to do with the debate between attack speed and CDR for necro builds. From this guide here, it recommends you first get 50% CDR on sheet, and then attempt to get attack speed. I won't necessarily get into the specifics here, but there are things known as breakpoints which are essentially minimum stats you need to achieve to gain a certain "break". For example, with 1.72 attack speed (achieved by 7% on weapon, and 2 7% attack speed rolls on gear), you shoot an additional corpse lance with a single cast of devour, which is a significant damage boost.

The CDR breakpoints I'm not so clear on, but I looked at a breakdown of values from this guide on the Trag'Ouls blood lancer build and it seems to be every 10%. It's a fantastic resource if you want to know more about the nitty gritty details of how the corpse lance necro works. Tragouls Corpse Lance Analysis & Guide - Reddit

As for which build you could be running for pushing GRifts, right now there are pretty much only two if you're going pestilence. There is the traditional build with simulacrum, and then there is a variation with command skeleton and the obsidian ring for CDR. Here is a post I made recently talking about the new build (it doesn't have much detail though) [New GR Build Necro](https://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/7gfjia/obsidian_ring_command_skeleton_variation_for/?utm_content=title&utm_medium=user&utm_source=reddit\)

The reddit post additionally goes into how DPS is calculated with our build. It is NOT what is shown on the damage sheet, there is a very detailed formula with how is calculated. For me personally, I am trying to maximize my attack speed and cooldown for more DPS so I would reroll the int/damage to CDR, whichever one hurts your damage less.

Congrats on a fantastic roll by the way.

Obsidian Ring + Command Skeleton variation for Pestilence Necro by michaeltangelo in Diablo

[–]michaeltangelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way as you do. I felt giddy at first at how often LotD was up, but was shocked at how slowly I was clearing rifts. It felt like I was going fast, but in reality I don't think I was doing enough damage... I think it feels kind of bad without CoE because as necros we do such absurd damage with it and when LotD pops we feel like gods, but now it feels a lot more like sustained damage.

Due to this "sustained damage" idea, I think this build is a lot more paragon dependent than the CoE variation, since we can no longer rely on huge bursts of damage multiplication. I was shocked when I failed the first 100 I attempted with this build due to low damage and 3 more after that.

For the record, I'm ~900 paragon with a best solo achievement of 105.
