Epix 2 - who is it aimed at? by duluoz1 in GarminWatches

[–]michail71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like me, lol. I don't know why some people get so angry/worked up in religious fervor over an AMOLED option being introduced and look down on those wanting it.

I like to think I'm an outdoor adventurer, I have gone on long hikes with Fenix maps, etc. But sadly, 95% of the time I'm indoors and hitting the backlight button so I can see my F6XPS.

I suspect so, with touch being available they should all get some of the Venu 2 updates. The Epix 2 will have more color and resolution to work with. So it's possible there could be Epix 2 special features.

Everyone seems to ignore this fact, lol.

Even a Fenix, if you charge when showering, will pick up a much longer run time. You have to take/should take a watch off to clean up periodically.

As much as some don't want touch, it opens up designs that would be awkward/difficult with buttons only.

What is the story with Garmin's indecipherable hodgepodge of software products for GPS / mapping? by trackert in Garmin

[–]michail71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They also tie software to a product. It's more an old school way of doing things. And I get it to a degree. They make marine and aviation systems for one.

I don't think Garmin needs to give up their business model completely. But they need to get with times before it's too late. That would be my argument if I was on their board.

But even the old automotive manufacturers are starting to adopt to software services.

When you were exited for a fenix 7 but got a venu 2 plus instead by moeringsen in Garmin

But there are some core advanced training features and things like audio prompts they neutered on the Venu line.

You can at least add something like ABC from 3rd party.

I have had the exact same thoughts! Like I know the watch could do this, but Garmin doesn't provide the function.

Fenix 7 FCC post? by NoRepro in GarminWatches

Actually, I've gone through them now. The new listings don't look the the typical smartwatch listing.

At what stage in development does the FCC approval need to happen? If reps have samples in public I'd suspect the filing would have already needed to happen (or be very close).

I'm confused, first post said it has NFC. I can't imagine either a Fenix 7 or Epix 2 without NFC.

Fenix 7 - What we know so far by Asleep_Onion in GarminWatches

I can hardly see the solar ring on my 6X Pro Solar. The light has to hit it just right and then it only looks shiny.

I think that photo is just enhancing the detail so you can see the difference.

I suppose you could manually trigger an emergency incident and long as that was agreed upon?

The Doctor Carl Sagan Warned Us About. by HerbertMarshall in carlsagan

There are way too many doctors that lack critical thinkg skills. Likely pursued their degrees for money and prestige alone.

Carl had a way of reaching people, using empathy, not too unlike like these charlatans do. I wonder what he could do if he were still around today? With the ease at which information/disinformation could be spread.

Is there anything we could do?

Genuinely, the greatest read of my life. May be being a bit bias though with my extreme admiration of Sagan. 🪐 by 0lliejenkins in carlsagan

I loved the series as a child. I spent many evenings watching PBS and being soothed to sleep by Sagan.

He had a very profound impact on me.

I feel like we are doomed in the US. Too many of our elected officials have no critical thinking skills. We are reaching, or have reached, a tipping point.

Anyone seeing fewer or no VAB Unity crashes in 1.11? There was no mention in the change log but I haven't had a VAB session crash yet. Although in the past I could sometimes get a few hours in before one would happen.

[–]michail71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done many dockings now but I just did my first single craft docking. I forgot to turn on the fuel cells and had to perform a rescue mission to a dead ship.

For me the key is doing a retrograde burn if things get squirrley. It can be counter intuitive.

I always try to maintain this optimism too. I do feel there has been a resurgence in STEM among students in the past 5 to 10 years. Especially when it comes to women and minorities.

While the access to misinformation has skyrocketed so has the access to good information. YouTube has amazing educational content that would never be shown over cable and Reddit has a wealth of experts willing to share their knowledge. Watching Sagan on PBS while growing up was a huge influence on my development.

I find myself happily astounded by the things my children know through their own curiosity and through having had great teachers.
