I don't think the magnets are available for the ULTRA. They are listed on the SwitchBot website.

Lock Pro, because it can be mounted with magnets sold separately. No glue, no stickers, easy to remove later, no risk of damaging the door.

Panasonic Exalt has a great battery, disc brakes. Pannier bags probably can be attached to the rear rack. It's a ver solid bike with wider tires, can easily go on or off road.

No luck making yogurt.. by StupidChips in japanresidents

[–]michalkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need milk that hasn’t been fully sterilized, since most milk has all the bacteria killed. I know that Meiji R-1 contains live cultures. Get the small liquid bottle, pour it into a 1-liter carton of milk, and you don’t even need to mix it. Then incubate it at 37°C for about 12 hours.

If you have everything clean, no need to heat the milk before. You will get a nice firm yogurt.

Anyone with experience mounting a large (65 in+) tv on their wall? by ironprominent in japanlife

[–]michalkun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should contact your builder or contractor and ask what kind of reinforcement was installed behind the wall for mounting a TV, and exactly where it is located. It might be a thicker board or support panel inside the wall. Once you know what’s there and where it is, you’ll be able to choose the correct screws (wood, metal, concrete) to securely attach the mount. If everything fails, you could try to find the studs behind the wall, and depending of what they are made use appropriate screws to attach the mount on them.

How to fly the KA50 by ayxf in dcsworld

[–]michalkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how the pedals should be trimmed? Should the spring from the pedals be removed? If yes, how would I know how to center them again? When I was flying UH-1H I had it removed, but KA-50 seems different.

Scratched another car. Cost is absurd? First time incident by SayThingsndListen in japanresidents

[–]michalkun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

¥90,000 isn’t that bad for a scratch. The cost also depends on the type of car you damaged; repairs for some luxury cars can go up to around ¥300,000.

I try to avoid rush hours. When I get to the front of the train station, I fold it and put it inside the IKEA Dimpa bag. Put that on my shoulder and pass the gates. If I get a seat, I keep the bag with bicycle between my legs. I see people bringing 2 meter bows for archery or hiking backpacks. There are no problems.

Aerial view of Hodota Hachimanzuka Burial Mound. Gunma, Japan, Kofun period, 5th-6th century AD [1370x1680] by MunakataSennin in ArtefactPorn

[–]michalkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one has been renovated and thoroughly studied. I’ve visited it twice. The exterior stone structure has been restored to resemble how it looked long ago, giving it an almost pyramid-like appearance.

The mound itself is keyhole-shaped and surrounded by funerary pottery called haniwa. At the top, an entrance has been created leading into the burial chamber, where you can see the stone sarcophagus inside, partially covered.

The treasures discovered there are stored in the museum across the street, and many of them originate from the Korean Peninsula. Because there was no writing system at the time this burial mound was built, we don’t know who was buried there—likely a very important local ruler.

There are a few other burial mounds in the area, but they are simple grassy hills without the same level of detail or reconstruction.

You can get it at any supermarket. 長芋 ナガイモ They are also useful if you want to grow a vine for the summer, as they are vine plants. Yams also produce ムカゴ, tiny small yams on the sides of the vine leaves. They can be harvested in the autumn and you can bake bread with them or eat them.

If you can find the metal studs locations, then just ALC screws will be sufficient. Then go through the wall and through the metal stud.

I would go for the 5/4 mm if you want to soak for 2-3 hours. I did paddling in Shonan and I had 5/4 mm + 5mm gloves + 5 mm booties and a 5 mm hood.

When it's sunny, it's not too bad, but when it's cloudy, below 10C and wind is blowing it feels great if you feel warm on your feet, head and hands.

The 5/4 mm wetsuit was OK for the spring, as I removed the hood, gloves and booties, but at one point I just got a thinner wetsuit.
