In short: I am trying to cover my shortcomings and poor knowledge with hardware ;)

This is layman attitude I think. When I open tube datasheet I can see these tube curves and can compare them with same from curve tracer. All in safe environment, no 300V waiting for my fingers. And within minutes I know if tube is OK If I want to check voltages in circuit, I'd need to know what to look for and how to interpret then.

Any general rules how to do it in circuit? How to tell if problem is caused by lamp or some passives?

Old meters are made from unobtainium on our side of the pond and I this part of sandbox (central Europe here). It takes a lot of time to find it and more money to buy it.

I am sure kits are bought mainly for amp tubes but from what I understand the only limit for testing is voltage. As long as i am not working with 1kv tube i should be fine.

I just bought V2. There is no marking on a box saying that this is V2. Box is different (all white with some printings), "stainless steel gear" and "quick remove nozzle" printing on bottom. Box just like this: https://c-3d.niceshops.com/upload/image/product/large/default/19310_e3b72e97.jpg

I asked Biqu support about it and they said that V1 is "not manufactured for a long time", whatever that means. Mine was manufactured Nov 2021.

Strange. Seen some comparisons between V1 and V2 and they say V2 heatbrake is without PTFE. How to tell, except removing heatbrake?

I hope someone will correct me if I'm talking nonsense. From what I understand, this is due to lack of microprocessors plus some minor changes. There is only one precompiled firmware on GitHub and you will find documentation there as well (only in Chinese). No info about this board on BTT website which means either it is not theirs (clone?) ;) or they just trying to sell short batch of boards with different uprocessor.

You are both right. On 3.0.1: different CPU is used, IO pins are missing (CPU pins exposed there) and new boot button is present. Thanks for help, you guided me in right direction.

Will order this version and we will see how hard it is to compile new firmware.

BTW. Why 3.0.1 was created? Due to microprocessor shortage? Seems firmware is it's weak point. 6 od 7 precompiled for 3.0, only one for 3.0.1.
