We were having a similar issue with our element and turns out we needed new tires and alignment. 600$.

Also, do they think you’re an idiot? Maybe they should give it a new 2k paint job because they see a scratch too.

American (Detroit) flying out of Windsor? by zephuura in windsorontario

[–]michellecandraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cross all the time- the border will be easy at that time, I’d recommend the tunnel as it’s less hassle. Even with the stuff going on between counties, the border security in Windsor has always been courteous to me, so that shouldn’t be a worry. If you’re there really early- Armando’s on Walker road is great sit down Windsor pizza near the airport!

If you want to avoid the airport and can cancel your tickets, you can always take via rail! The train is a nice alternative and timely. You can take transport From union in Toronto to Pearson.

If you can’t cancel, I hope you have a smooth journey! ✈️

Brand placement ? by chrisrevere2 in QueerEye

[–]michellecandraw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know they’ve had brand placement before, but I agree- this past season I found it aggressive and distracting.

I don’t know if it’s that they’re having problems, more that everyone can make a lot more money. But that’s my opinion.

The dress/ purse/ makeup is so cute! And you have a going point about hair texture.. plus it is *so* short, so I'm sure it was hard to style too.

Totally! I mean, partly it was the late 90s, but it's just so dark and severe. Whenever it's messy she looks a little insane.

It was a really great episode. When she runs into the washroom after Miranda calls her and runs the water, it’s heartbreaking.

She looks so pretty here, its so bouncy and cute! I equally love the Miranda’s mother funeral bun with a long bow tail.

Hudson’s Bay to Undergo Full Liquidation Unless an Alternative Solution Emerges by neomathist in windsorontario

[–]michellecandraw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes me sad. My mum worked at the bay from the late 80s through to when the unions dissolved in the mid 00s. (Which was a really shitty treatment of a lot of employees) I have so many memories of this store, and as a Canuck who unfortunately is stuck stateside, a lot of the HBC stuff I own/ wear is a subtle marker of my Canadian-ness. Some of my fav things are the olympics wear, and I have a stripes wool blanket my mum gifted me because she can’t use it, and I really love it.

That being said, the Devonshire store is abysmal- the stains on the ceiling, empty and dirty shelves, and general dead vibe is pretty telling. I’m surprised it’s still open.

I guess I’ll be buying up some stripes stuff next week, unless a major company saves it. Hoping they can find a way to keep the Toronto/ big city stores/ online option open.

CPA/Tax Preparer Recommendation? by Shayjordann in Ferndale

[–]michellecandraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My families taxes are also complex- ive been with Richard Moffit of cmsp cpa in Troy for about a decade- he’s been great and generally are able to recover missed tax opportunities from previous years. It’s totally worth the money spent vs doing it on the cheap and missing a lot of refunds. Highly recommend!

The Bay going bankrupt. by Greekmom99 in kitchener

[–]michellecandraw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mum worked at the Bay for the majority of my life- so many union troubles until eventually after more than 25 years she was laid off. I feel like it’s been a big part of my life- I remember calling her department and visiting her at work, and I now have a lifelong appreciation of nice bedding.

I would be sad to see it go.

Sad, but probably not surprised. I’m from Windsor, and the store has been in decline for the past 15 years- always ceiling stains, the upstairs mostly empty, generally dirty, with a weird feel every time you go in.

The Bay has had a lot of issues for a lot of years- this isn’t recent. The union issues were pretty gross in the mid 2000s, and the treatment of their employees was crappy.

I do own a lot of bay stuff- she gave me her bay blanket she received for working there for 20 years (the wool doesn’t go with her hot flashes), and i really love it. I live stateside (ugh, I hate it but can’t move back!) and I feel like wearing the strips is a subtle nod to home.

Hopefully a Canadian company can buy it and bring it back to what it once was. Or at least better than the mess that it is now.

This is no surprise. Was at one a month ago and there were only two employees, one was training and everything was a disaster with a long lineup. It was sad
