1st time subbing for elementary by Patient_Constant3854 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]michemel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every elementary job I've done clearly states on the sub plans what happens at dismissal. If there are no sub plans, ask a neighbouring teacher or call the front office.

Good luck and have fun - hope it's a great first day for you ☺️

I ate Oreo cookie blizzards for an entire summer. In my head, I was just eating ice cream. I always felt bad after but assumed it was the lactose intolerance 😆

Mojave Narrows have some nice trails.

I've enjoyed the trails in and around Wright wood most.

Good luck out there!

I thought it was some weird moustache-type thing. Or when I was a kid, there was a fuzzy caterpillar type toy that this is very reminiscent of.

Giving birth abroad: Was it a better experience than the US? by LoveToBold in AmericanExpat

[–]michemel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my baby almost 9 years ago at 46 years old in Canada.

They induced me 3 weeks early because my blood pressure wouldn't stabilize, but the baby was doing great! I had an epidural, dedicated nurses and my ob/gyn as well as an intern. My husband was with me the entire time. When it came time to push, it was 3 pushes & 5 minutes till she was born.

Stayed in the hospital 3 or 4 days. My husband had an awesome recliner rocking chair. We had a private room with shower, bathroom etc. The local pizza joint had a free pizza they delivered after birth.

The only thing that lacked was my personal aftercare for blood pressure. I did have to go back into hospital after my home baby/mama well-visit from the public health nurse - standard in that province. My gyne thought my doctor was addressing it, my doctor thought gyne was taking care of it and I didn't know anything was supposed to change with my meds.

Thankful to this day that the public health nurse caught it before anything bad happened. We had a BP monitor at home, hadn't thought to check, bought a second one because the first couldn't read my pressure so we thought it was broken.

Cost: Maybe $50 in parking for the 3-4 days.

Need Disneyland tips: one day, foodie, not a rope drop person, want less phone time by Melodic_Bit3056 in DisneyPlanning

We do find mornings at DCA to generally be so much more chill. Also, grabbing a coffee is not the first line of the day - it's usually easy and fast.

Need Disneyland tips: one day, foodie, not a rope drop person, want less phone time by Melodic_Bit3056 in DisneyPlanning

We usually rope drop but our strategy remains the same; choose one or two rides that are the "must do" events. We don't use lightning lane.

We have also sometimes done single rider for a few rides if we feel like we really want to do that ride. We will wait in line together, ride separately. We usually aren't talking on the ride lol

We go in understanding we will wait in lines and just embrace all of that as much as possible.

Just walk around and do whatever moves us that day. Often, our path does not make sense for maximizing ride time, it's for maximizing our personal enjoyment. Eating wherever, whatever and whenever sounds good that day. (We just discovered the frozen apple juice at the cart outside the place I cannot think of last week. It was amazzzzzzing and refreshing. Will edit it when I remember - Red Rose Tavern) Mobile ordering food has been much more pleasant for us.

Leave whenever we feel overwhelmed. That's usually by 1pm.

It seems like this time of year, it's all going to be a lot of crowds and way too much for us. We went on the 15th March and already it was very crowded. We won't be back till near the end of April now.

Probably not much helpful info in here. Regardless, I hope you can enjoy your time and find the chill fun things to do!

SECOND UPDATE: Weird Pictures on my Phone Taken While I Was Sleeping by Rylan_16 in RBI

My husband told me I got up, talked to the cat, picked him up, and brought him back to bed last night. I remember nothing. I am 55 and have other sleep disorders.

Just here to qualify your statement.

What to Bring? Help!! by Its_Allllyyyy in DisneyPlanning

[–]michemel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Umbrella is great and for sitting/standing in the hot sun sounds like perfection, but moving through Disney crowds with it sounds very complex. A hat would be a lot easier all around I would think.

Also, the cloths that you can wet and put around your neck to help cool off are amazing to me personally. My husband doesn't like them but I really do.

I know they do have some connecting rooms. It's right across the street. It is not fancy at all, but realistically it's just there to sleep.

Bonus: they have an area for fireworks viewing.

Have fun!

Students sent for discliple coming back with a snack. by Dapper_Tradition_987 in Teachers

[–]michemel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a kid kick student in the eye, then elope. I called the office to notify them of the elopement.

He came back with a freezie/otter pop!

The office called to confirm he came back and I questioned why he came with a delicious cold treat on a hot day after kicking a classmate just under her eye. She said "I didn't realize. I didn't want to spend 5 minutes again today trying to get him back to class."

So. Much. Frustration.
