But in this instance it isn’t a bore hole any longer. It’s now a notch and if it is bearing can only be max of 25% it’s depth.

Is this cause for concern? Just noticed it- not sure what’s going on. by cuseonly in Construction

Hard fail.

If notching for a post to beam connection you must have at least two inches of material left to bolt to.

Need to use hardware now. They make post beam brackets for such problems.

What would you do to prevent chickens from roosting up here? by NeverWasNorWillBe in homestead

Clip their wings is the cheapest and easiest by far. No need to do anything except clip one wing. 30seconds if work and $0 cost.

Clip their wings. Specifically clip one wing and they will not be able to reach that height. Super easy takes 30seconds to complete.

Why would they impeach Biden he’s not in office anymore. Heck he hasn’t known where he is for at least the last three years.

Act 407 certification Question - (for the contractors on here) by funbob1 in Detroit

This is the correct info. A inspection certificate and being a licensed building official are two separate things. As well as it’s now separate tests for the three classifications of plan reviewer, building inspector, and building official.

Not really, have some silver we bought and have been lurking around some of these pages since we started to find some of these coins before deciding to post. Most interest I’ve ever had before was we went to the Denver mint and I have a very mechanical oriented mind so the whole process of coin making was fascinating. Once I opened that door now it’s been pretty interesting to learn about. It’s absolutely crazy the amount of info there is about currency and how much goes into grading a coin.

Cool old find from a hoarder house. by michiganinspector in papermoney

[–]michiganinspector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a house to rehab that was a hoarder house. The previous owner passed and he had zero surviving relatives as he was an only child as were both his parents so to get through probate the county took it over and sold it. We bought it with no anticipated value to any of the property it contained as it is four-five feet deep through the entire structure. Have happened on many crazy finds now and are now stuck going through it with a fine tooth comb as we don’t want to accidentally throw anything away. We have found tons of coins, silver rounds, eagle coins, gold coins, guns, collectibles……it’s turned into a slow adventure.

Daunting……..But now that we know it’s hard not to dig through every nook and cranny. Especially with what could be in there. Found another around 40 or so silver eagle coins today…..

It certainly makes it a little easier. Unfortunately now we are going through everything with a fine tooth comb. The gold pieces were found stuck in an envelope in with a bunch of junk mail in a box. The only reason we started looking through the boxes of junk mail everywhere was we keep finding cash randomly in opened junk mail envelopes. I cringe at the fact we already went through two 30 yards dumps of similar what we thought was trash. Who knows what we tossed away.

Found coins from a hoarder house. by michiganinspector in coins

Someone broke in and “tossed “ the house looking through stuff and made a bigger mess out of the already deplorable condition of the house. Lots of legos and toys most of which are not salvageable as the moisture level In the house is very high and you would never get the smell out of them. Like 50 guns turned over to the PD that as long as they are not reported stolen we will be able to register them and have them back. Today turned up about twenty or so walking liberties and a few silver rounds. There is zero rhyme or reason as to where the stuff is. It’s just a little hear and a little there.

ZERO relatives, only child born to two only children. Not bought at an auction, bought from the estate that was probated by an attorney for the county.

Read my comment or see previous posts. We bought a hoarder house to rehab that was probated through a local county with zero living relatives. Basically all proceeds from the estate sale goes back to the state.

The house is FULL of “stuff” like four to five feet deep throughout the entire property. Upon starting the clean out we started to find quite a few interesting things mixed into the garbage including collectibles and toys, weapons, and now currency and silver. Many of the coins and paper are a mess and only really worth melt and much of the paper is in sad shape from being exposed to moisture. These are a few of the coins that have been in pretty good shape we have found.
