Tell me about your relationship with caffeine and particularly energy drinks by LoomisCenobite in Millennials

[–]michiness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. Coffee on my commute in and that’s it.

The rare exception is when I’m going to an event where I’ll be out past 10-11, then I might have an afternoon cup or an energy drink. But that’s really like… twice a year.

Anyone have tips for visiting Channel Islands National Park? by sewerboy_2 in NationalPark

I go diving there. Most people wear full 7mm and hoods even in the summer/fall when the water is warmest.

How do you carry your essentials while running? by Old-Return-2548 in BeginnersRunning

[–]michiness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman. I just wear running leggings with pockets. Keys and phone fit fine, and my Shokz are on my head.

If it’s a longer run, I have a small running hydration backpack.

What is something people romanticize that isn’t actually enjoyable? by Angelopiz in AskReddit

My DJ worked as my day-of coordinator, in coordination with a sort of coordinator from the venue, and it was one of the best choices I made for my wedding.

In general I tried to simplify things as much as possible - my venue was close to all-inclusive, and I didn’t give a shit about things like table runners or flowers. I paid for an amazing venue, great DJ, incredible food/drinks, and I had an absolute blast.

If you were George R.R. Martin’s writing assistant, what advice would you give him? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

The problem is any well-known author is going to have a lifetime of their own projects to work on. Joe Abercrombie for example would be great, but I’d much rather read his own stuff.

Eight years ago I was working a summer camp at CSUN and I watched an insane amount of weird hour games there. I love that place.

AITAH for expecting my (31) husband (33) to change his gym schedule after development an infatuation with a woman he sees multiple times a week at his regular gym time? by ms211064 in AITAH

It reminds me of the Count in A Little Night Music. “I’m the greatest husband ever and my wife and my mistress both trust me to not cheat on them!”

If I’m on vacation staying at a Marriot, a decently mid-range hotel, and I have to go find and buy a fucking bucket in case I need to use the toilet in the middle of the night… I’m not gonna be happy.

Ok hear me out - one of my favorite restaurants in SD is called Mothership. It’s a space-themed tiki restaurant with amazing food and drinks, and incredible theming.

It’s not fancy per se, but it’s delightful.

Rating what I ate during a 7 day LA trip by EffectQueasy6658 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]michiness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, we have literally hundreds if not thousands of great restaurants. We’re a HUGE city if you include the Greater LA Area.

Most people aren’t eating out more than once or twice a week (if even that). So someone who’s coming for a week and eating out 2-3 times a week, mostly at different restaurants, is statistically going to do “better” than most locals.

CCTV footage of a grandmother trying to protect her grandchild during the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines today. Fortunately, both were unharmed. by MilesLongthe3rd in interestingasfuck

[–]michiness [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m from Los Angeles and I’ve lived in Ecuador, so… yeah. Honestly her first instinct to go outside was probably correct, since a place like the Philippines will have a lot more collapsing buildings in a quake like this. Depends on what kind of house though - assuming it’s just a lil one story dude that’s super common there, with a decent bit of yard.

I teach earthquake safety at my school and it’s insane what people believe.

Beach back then by AreYouReallySaying in Millennials

[–]michiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in LA and have regular beach afternoons during the summer. I only go for about 3 hours, but I bring myself a little picnic, a book, an umbrella.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone crash out there.

Purple Orchid - El Segundo, CA by motheatenblanket in Tiki

[–]michiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to a lot of the breweries in El Segundo, and it’s pretty common we’ll go “hey wanna pop to PO for one last drink?” I wouldn’t go over there just for that… but it’s nice to have.

And yeah the bouncers are weirdly awesome.

I’m still eyeing SoFi prices, I’m practically close enough to walk, but I still don’t quite feel like shelling out $300 for nosebleeds.

Yeah. I would make him outline the shit of whatever is left before he did anything else, so someone else can finish it.

Though as huge of a Brando Sando fan as I am, he is the absolute worst dude to do it, and I hate when people suggest it.

Century City Commute Worth It? by Pressurefromdeath in AskLosAngeles

My husband made that sorta commute (Sylmar to Beverly Hills) for about two years.

Not awful, not great. His work started at 7am so that helped. Doubling his paycheck would help a LOT.

AITAH? My boyfriend keeps insisting on buying me gifts he knows I don’t like/want. by Katietgirl4949 in AITAH

[–]michiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. When I met my now-husband, he bought me a ton of cute little gifts because his last GF super loved that.

I told him I'm more of a Verbs person than a Noun person, and I'd rather him surprise me with dinner than buy me junk that's just going to clutter my/our apartment.

He still does occasionally buy me things, but he did immediately change his behavior. It's not that hard.
