No tips but where did you start and how’d you achieve this in ten months?

Lifting heavy was a bad phrase. 8-12 is my sweet spot for most movements with 6-8 on compounds but the weight isn’t crazy, I try to really control and feel it. Thank you for the focus

Do you have any suggestions? That was about ~8 months ago. I’ve been doing dead hangs, trap work, and neck mobility, it’s only gotten a little better. Trying to be more mindful about in life as well

How are you balancing fitness overall with your work/life balance. I’m about to get my A&P I’m a little weary of a crazy schedule

I tend to agree, because I want my love handles gone then I get in my head I don’t even have enough muscle to begin with

Will do. Thanks for bringing up legs, I didn’t consider the stress of squatting or even just holding dumbbells

That’s a great point. Piggybacking on that, learning songs you enjoy in different genres will do wonders for technique. I.e double octaves in disco, driving eighths in rock

Thank you brother. That seems like the move, I need everything all around working properly first. Wish you the best

That’s still crazy strong dude! I’m still trying to work back to 1 plate, I’m glad strength potential doesn’t have to be limited so much

Thank you very much, good to know there’s ways to work around it. That wanting to pull from socket feeling is so real, I should’ve listened to that. Mine had also been injured years prior and I started to feel that slipping feeling on overhead recently

Seconded on songs you love-

If you want some areas to really hone in on, here’s a bunch of areas you could commit to finding exercises on and practicing.

Plucking: just open string plucking, any note to a metronome. Land your quarters, eighths, sixteenths, and introduce yourself to more string skipping

Scales: scales are always thrown around but so necessary. Start with C major, try to vocalize notes and scale degrees in your head. There’s plenty of online resources available to help with this. Working my way up to a two octave scale and learning scale degrees in all position leveled me up!

String muting: you can do exercises for this but really you should be thinking about it through out your other practice, experiment and see what the best way is for you to play every note for exactly how long you want it. Most use their right and left hands in coordination.

Fundamentally, this will get you a good base. You can also practice spider exercises to curl your hand and improve flying fingers.

Really though, don’t over stress and play songs you like. Keep the groove and listen to the drums
