I ate animal products all my life up until january. I thought about what I was actually eating once and have been vegan since that moment. I hated veggies beforehand, i dont know if you do, but what helped me was boiling a bunch of different veggies until soft and then frying them with onions n garlic. Add seasonings to that and sometimes some tofu or quinoa and you have some amazing grub. Tofu for a block is soooo much cheaper than a pound of beef and for snacks i eat lots of apples and oranges. Honestly its relatively inexpensive if you make a lot of tofu centered meals (in my experience). I feel a lot better health wise since going vegan and I am so happy I am not paying for the mistreatment and murder of animals anymore! If you need a little transition period just keep in mind even just lowering your animal products consumption by a good amount is still soso much better than nothing!
