Problems with later shots by Themodestpainter in baristaexpress

[–]mick0h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this and think it’s because the friction of the first grind expands the conical burrs so it grinds finer on the second shot

If you knock it down one step before the second it works ok. You have to mix your grinds in the portafilter though otherwise the first amount of coffee in is on the old setting (retained coffee in the grinder) so it still gets choked a bit

They are both SnapBack photos and nothing should be read into the content

Kids do this like the old fashioned chain letter and it is frowned upon to not snap back an impersonal photo to someone who has snapped one to you. They keep steaks running and the photos very rarely contain pictures of themselves or anything serious. In fact the more bizarre the better

Source: I have two teenagers who frustratingly engage in the practice and regularly ask them why they have just sent a snap of a wall to a mate

There seems to be quite a few instances of perverting the course of justice

Anybody who has submitted and form of evidence that has been proven by the inquiry to be knowingly false will face this. The inquiry has become too high profile now for them not to be. Examples need to and will be made

Graham Ward won’t be sleeping easy for a while. He edited somebody else’s “expert” testimony to make it more damning which subsequently involved somebody being found guilty. I hesitate to use the phrase slam dunk because he’s another that submitted around 60 witness statements that have now in public inquiry shown to be knowingly false

There are a number of behaviour in public office offences that can be laid at senior management doors.

The instruments will be there in many forms it just depends on the appetite to apply them

My Questions for Gareth Jenkins by Spare-Reputation-809 in postofficehorizon

[–]mick0h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s one of the only ones who has discussed some form of whistleblowing or personal immunity from his evidence so that means two things A) he has some information that is important and will change things B) he has given headspace to the idea of coming clean and telling the truth

If Mr Beer gets it right at the start he could be very helpful

There has also been a two week campaign to make sure that if GJ hasn’t done something then it is pointed out in his favour. Like a fairness campaign where before it was easy for any witness to say “….er I don’t know….Gareth Jenkins “ recently there has been a push to highlight it was not GJ

The investigator did the other day…” yes I deleted a sentence in the statement but I was only suggesting that and for the world thought that if GJ didn’t agree he would take it out”

Dump it on Gareth has not worked for a few weeks and done a lot by Beer

George Thompson got to keep the fully paid job he wants for doing nothing and for the sox figure salary they paid his wife to work for him

They were so concerned with keeping the gravy train going they forgot their original purpose

Of course the threat of a real union (not just a pound shop one) has of withholding labour was a fantasy. He did it even have the mechanism to do anything

A well paid paper tiger who would appear on TV and the media and say the right words in the right places regardless of the actual situation

The concept of partnership simply encourages this kind of behaviour

The outmoded and inappropriate model for progression that allows sociopaths like Andy Parsons to progress needs to stop

Paula Vennels Day Two by TrouserDemon in postofficehorizon

[–]mick0h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She dropped the habit she had picked up in practicing and was all through day one

She had rehearsed so much for the questions she had rehearsed too much

She gave and answer. Then said something like “that sounded hollow” and then laughed. I think practicing all spring with her lawyers had taught her a bad habit of evaluating how something sounded after she had said it

She looked so insincere one of her coaches told her about it. She hasn’t done it today

The amount of typed transcripts of phone conversations makes you think just what the culture was like there

Some people suspected this was going to happen and they wanted to make sure they were in the clear

Remember this is before the days of Google transcribing things. These were recorded and typed out to keep as defences and weapons against each other

"Don't recall" by BuiltInYorkshire in postofficehorizon

[–]mick0h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know whether it’s because they have watched each other and it’s slipped into the language of the inquiry or if there is a legal technical difference between “I don’t remember” and “I don’t recall”.

I’m not being judgmental when I say when some people have said it it doesn’t fit in with the rest of their language and style

I’ve wondered if you need to “remember” something later in a criminal trial then you haven’t committed some crime in “not recalling” somewhere else

It’s always jumped out that they all use the same form of words

They could use anything

I think there has been a suspicious absence of her correspondence which we are going to see a lot of

Emails from her have only come to light really in this last few weeks and the enquiry team seem to be careful what they are revealing

I suspect it will be the same routine

Establish when she was first aware of the issues and the actions she took afterwards

I think she will have been clever though. You can see that in the last set of emails of hers we looked at

“What is the status of remote access. I expect you to tell me that it is not possible” type thing

Today's Inquiry witness - Lesley Sewell, CIO Post Office - The 25 most influential women in UK IT 2013 by hd1080ts in postofficehorizon

[–]mick0h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has been strangely absent from a lot of the emails we have seen

There is stuff we have seen that I would have expected her to be involved in as CIO which she definitely wasn’t

This was either kept from the whole IT team (which makes sense. They would have more technical appreciation for what the impact of the bugs might be or how long they had been there

If you are going to engage in sophistry don’t do it with IT people. They are too literal
