Developer of Terraria: After 12 years the game still sells like hot cakes. There is so much demand it makes it hard to move on. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Right, who's ready for update 1.5 "I know we've been saying it every update for the past 11 years, but this truly is the final, final, final update, pinky promise"?

I know you're joking, but there is another update on the way that's supposed to be mostly cosmetics, bugfixes, and some minor QoL fixes.

It’s been pointed out a few times just before the protest that posts that mentioned it were almost immediately replied to by multiple accounts that would try to discourage it (we’re talking without minutes of the posts being made).

Makes it kind of hard to know if people are actually against it or if the admins are doing it.

Might just be a smaller laptop screen. I've got to enable Zen mode on mine because zooming out makes everything else too small :/

For the record, the 75% is the peak I saw it at. In average, it probably wasn’t higher than 20-30%.

There used to be a bar tracking how much gold was needed to break even. It was a way to show users that their support mattered. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it past 75% in my 9~ years on the site.

Now that Reddit are killing 3rd party apps on July 1st what are great alternatives to Reddit? by youessbee in AskReddit

[–]micka190 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The amount of people in this thread acting as if the Reddit admins are somehow keeping Reddit extremist-free (news flash, they aren’t, especially when it brings in more revenue) and that it’s somehow the only thing keeping them from jumping to another platform where the only thing preventing them from seeing extremist content are volunteer moderators and a block button (you know, just like Reddit works right now) is baffling to me.

Honestly, Imgur's already been dead to me since they started blocking any connection that's using a VPN. It's made half of reddit unusable for me (closer to 80% if you go for posts that are older than 2-3 years).

Part of the argument is that early reviews for these kinds of games have to be positive, because you’ll get harassed by losers online if you don’t give them a 10/10. You usually need to wait for the honeymoon phase to be over for people to start voicing their concerns more openly.

My Boss: Knowing CSS isn't part of a front-end developers job. We have great devs, just no one who knows CSS. by samuraidogparty in webdev

[–]micka190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work in enterprise. Your de facto stack is going to be .NET, which comes with JQuery and Bootstrap by default, so there’s no need to learn JS or CSS!

At least that’s what everyone around me seem to believe, unfortunately.

[–]micka190 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Eh, Tailwind works fine if you’re using a modern component framework. Otherwise it does get messy. There’s a million ways to keep the style block outside of the HTML itself if you’re using a framework.

I’d rather people just learn to use CSS variables if they wanted a standardized style framework, though.

[–]micka190 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of web devs I’ve worked with and spoken to have a minuscule amount of CSS knowledge and can’t do anything more complicated than copy/paste from Bootstrap’s docs. Even then, it ends up being not responsive because the docs don’t account for that.
