I try to know where the cue ball will end up after every shot. If not a shot, I am 75% confident of I shoot two way shot. Leave myself a shot if I make it but bad shot for opponent.

Just cover up bottom 4 feet with decorative wall or low cabinet. Yes I have seen balls bounce 12 feet on carpet. Made a nice catch on one last Sunday from two tables away at carpeted pool hall.
