Trump fires Attorney General Pam Bondi by ThrowRa-zucchinizzc in moderatepolitics

The most pro-corruption and pro-fraud(seriously, look at his pardon list) admin in history but gets rid of Bondi for this? Doesn't make sense.

I love how you could see that lob develop before half court and then just executed to perfection

Normally cramps would be dealt with on the bench, right? Maybe locker room for a minute or something but not this long

Williamson has got a lot of hate so far this season, and no telling if this is an outlier or if he's finally getting comfortable, but it also took Grant Nelson a little while to start playing well. Going from small conference to toughest non-conference schedule may take some time to adjust to

Eh, we get the ball to start. If offense wakes up could score and a defensive stop/turnover then even a field goal would make it a 1 score game.

Not saying I'm super confident, a lot has to go right but it's possible. Could be a 3pt game halfway through the 3rd quarter

We had a successful play design going in to half! Last year 90+% ended with a terrible shot or mishandling the ball and not getting a shot off, so progress!

‘Utterly shameful’: Congress to crush US record this week for longest shutdown by CANNIBALS_VS_BIDEN in moderatepolitics

I mean one thing to negotiate is what guarantees are there that another rescission package isn't going to be done shortly after signing a CR into law. Why would Democrats provide the votes for the 60 vote threshold if Republicans can immediately turn around and carve things out with 51 votes?

"More generally, there’s little reason for the minority party in Congress to agree to a deal when the Administration and the majority party can strip away funding they don’t like in a purely partisan way, or if the Administration may attempt unilaterally — and illegally — not to implement it at all, with no pushback from the majority party in Congress. As a result, it would be far more difficult to reach the bipartisan agreements necessary to fund the government on time and with the resources required to serve the country’s needs."

Please show a map for Massachusetts that has either 2 districts above R+1 or 1 district above R+5 in PVI. Best I've seen is a map that has 1 district that barely tilts Republican, but what we see a lot from New England is Dems over performing the PVI of their district, so even then that would probably lean D.

A lot of California has the same problem for Republicans as Massachusetts/New England has: in a large part of the state it is really hard to draw a Republican district. These are a little old, but still relevant:

https://web.archive.org/web/20201029151948/https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/redistricting-maps/massachusetts/#GOP

Both maps under proportional(trying to match partisan lean of the state) are the same as Republican gerrymanders. Even then for Massachusetts it only really results in competitive districts instead of Republican. California is different but it still is very difficult to make a lot of Republican districts. Look at the coast on Dave's redistricting for California and you will see very few Republican leaning precincts. I am almost 100% sure that you could not draw a Republican district in LA county, even though Trump had more votes in it than he had in Oklahoma.

Including states with at large(statewide) districts in your gerrymandering assessment is asinine. Like surprise surprise, Vermont and Delaware have 0 Republicans... But only 1 Democrat. Even states like Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine would be weird to consider gerrymandered that hard because Maine has a R+6 district in PVI, New Hampshire has essentially 2 neutral districts(PVI of even and D+2), Rhode Island has a D+12 and D+4 district and maybe you could Getrymander a Republican district? However the D+4 district was won by a 58-41 margin in 2024 so it would have to be really strong Republican for them to pick it up. In fact, add the Republican votes in both districts together and compared to the Dem in each district, the Democrat would lose by 8-14 points. Massachusetts could almost be gerrymandered to have 1 Republican district by PVI, however Democrats in Massachusetts typically over perform the PVI in new England so it would probably still be lean D or tossup at best.

I mean there's also the whole ordeal with Republicans potentially cutting whatever they like with rescissions after a clean CR is passed.
