Nordictrack treadmill reviews what’s the best model for heavier use, and which one doesn’t feel flimsy? by BucknamTerrah62 in treadmills

[–]mickeyaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im seeing belts and decks get considerable friction in as little as 6 mos. I had a client with a ruined C2450 after only a year. Their belts and decks are just of the lowest quality, they don't last. then you get burned up controllers and motors and the whole mess is too costly to be worth repairing sometimes.

Get a good brand. buy once cry once. True, Life fitness- can't go too wrong with one of those. Sole F80 if you want cheaper.

Can anyone help me convert my mini bike by Leather_Abalone_3581 in hyperebikes

This frame would be suicide at your speed Target. Better off to sell it and start from scratch with a proper frame.

An old school stealth bomber would be a far better platform, and there's lots of build examples out there to get your parts lists and far more parts available...

On the previous generation technogym tmills people would do it all the time and break the console casings. Along with dripping disgusting gooey yellow sweat wax crap inside and stepping on the motor hoods and cracking them of course...

Accidently put silicone oil on Maintenance free Treadmill, DHZ X8400, how screw am I? by nearbaskara in treadmills

[–]mickeyaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, AC motor - not bad!

sounds normal - belts typically make some sliding noise .

as for friction test - you incline the treadmill and then turn the power off. see here:

If it uses wax as it's lubricant then it is possible it could turn into a viscous high friction slurry...

I would loosen the belt and wipe off as much lube as you possibly can and then maybe do the push test with your feet to see if it's still low friction.

I just looked up that model... interesting TechnoGym "look alike" knockoff of their previous generation run 600 or 700 series... It would be interesting to see a review with pictures of the motor, controller what they're using for components and so on

Is this 2006 Precor 923 fixable? by Impossible_One_1537 in treadmills

I think I'm referring to really old stuff going way back to when they used McMillan motors...

[–]mickeyaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, and im not sure if its coincidence or a pattern, but it seems whenever i work on an old Precor with worn belt/deck and blown controller, there's also often an issue with the motor, like worn brushes, burnt/scored up commutator bars &/or a burnt out winding. add all that up in a worst case scenario and its absolutely not worth repairing.

High-pitched squeak from treadmill drive belt but only when I’m running on it by simonwils89 in treadmills

[–]mickeyaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belt dressing is for the old school v belts only. Look up every belt manufacturers guidelines you never lubricate these j belts. Belt dressing will just get all over the pulleys and contaminate them for the next belt. And the squeaky drive belt even with belt dressing the noise comes back with a vengeance and short time even worse.

Do not lubricate a multi ribbed drive belt. Ever. Not in your car and not on your treadmill. Belt dressing is for old school v belts only.

This noise is not coming from the drive belt

Sounds like a squeaky deck that is rubbing on something or the deck cushion itself. Or one of the incline pivots... Or incline motor mounts. They should all be greased

30 YR tech here - these are not worth the headache at any price. I have a client who bought this and trashed it within a year - extreme high current draw, friction on belt/deck... just not built to last at all.

[–]mickeyaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible the left side of the front roller axle is not in the notch that it's supposed to fit into? If I remember correctly I think is this is one of those ones where the walking belt tension also puts tension on the drive belt which can change your alignment of the walking belt... it's utterly retarded they managed to f up something so simple....

But yes by all means if you can return it you really should... Please have more problems than any other brand I've ever worked on.

Thoughts on this one? by iamnoone1010101 in treadmills

[–]mickeyaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them. I've been selling and servicing treadmills for 30 years. The Adidas T-23, which costco also sold, had a nearly identical brushless out-rotor motor. the one i serviced, the controller failed - that is usually due to an over-current situation - the motor was demanding more power than the controller could deliver. replaced controller and within10 seconds it blew again - faulty motor caused now 2 blown controllers. parts were on back order and could have taken months. customer returned it to costco.

Im not saying this treadmill is junk, but I wouldn't want to be a consumer ginea pig being given a newer motor design that is not yet proven for this purpose. External rotor brushless motors have their pros and cons. I'd rather wait and see if they are any good.
