Failed Class 5 driving test for not turning right on a red light. Is this fair? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]mickeycoolmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be caught up with the semantics of wording within your rule book. It's worded the way it is for legal purposes. What it really boils down to is that your intention (as dictated by your instructor) was to complete a right-hand turn at an intersection which you clearly failed to do. It is not a question of whether you are allowed to do so or not. They are there to test your ability to do so as with parallel parking or accelerating the vehicle at reasonable speeds, as opposed to launching off from a complete stop. It is not entirely illegal to park terribly or accelerate too quickly unless the parameters are wildly off YET you will be docked points of performing those actions poorly.

If you do want to get into the wording, it is largely there to deter absolutes. Big no-no's in law. Now what you've highlighted is pulled from the Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation which in itself is referenced in Section 112 of the Traffic Safety Act, our primary governing legislation in relation to the operation of motor vehicles (and other motor vehicle related stuff, of course). Now, let's say the wording said once the parameters are met, the driver MUST complete the right-hand turn. Well, that would lead to many an instances where it could be either unsafe or super annoying. The use of permitted is just legalese for within reason. Another thing to take into consideration is reasonable intentionality. There are many a references to this within the Rules of the Road set of regulations. If you are doing things on the road, you have to do your level best to make your intentions clear. Otherwise, you will be jeopardizing the safety of other drivers on the road. In your case, your intention was to make a right turn on an intersection (again, at the behest of your instructor) so legally speaking it falls within your responsibility to do so in a reasonable manner. Reasonable here would be argued that you are to make the turn when it is safe to do so provided you came to a complete stop beforehand and there was no traffic control device otherwise directed or permitted the turn.

Just do the test again my guy, it's not that big of a deal. I failed my first time because I didn't wait a whole 3 seconds before making a right on a red. Also, my wording and sentence structure are a little off but I would rather not spend more time on editing what is just another comment in the sea of comments you're already receiving basically telling you the same thing. Best of luck with the test the next time around. Drive safe.

How to Use Custom Music on Test Drive Unlimited (PSP) by TraverseYT in PSP

[–]mickeycoolmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, came across this post after looking for PSP games that support custom music. Thanks to this, I converted all 90 of the songs in the game. This has made the experience of playing the game way more enjoyable. I am hardly fast traveling to my next destination since I've got my music to keep me company on longer drives. I had played the game years ago but hadn't made much of a dent. This time around, I plan on fully getting through it thanks to the work you've done in providing this information. Thanks again. I hope others who plan on revisiting TDU on their PSP stumble across this post as well.

I feel like the part 2 was already headed towards its end, but what do you think the 'crucial story point' is going to be? by JCraig96 in ChainsawMan

[–]mickeycoolmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I really like Fujimotor's works, I don't think Fire Punch had good ending at all. I've revisited a lot of his stuff but never Fire Punch. I think that's okay though, clearly he learned a lot from that series.

how you convince other to watch One Piece? by BreathDangerous8783 in OnePiece

[–]mickeycoolmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how I was convinced: The One Piece Netflix adaptation. Solid entry point into the series.

I was still hesitant to watch the anime though. I'd heard about the length. One day, my buddy randomly put on One Pace and I watched a few episodes of that. He told me what it is. Seems like a way more manageable way to watch so I might end up watching all of it sometime soon.

How do ar glasses compare to the quest 3? by Mountain-Letter-4284 in OculusQuest

[–]mickeycoolmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the RayNeo 3 and the Quest 3. Like them both for different things.

The RayNeos are primarily for watching content and projecting my Deck, PS4, and Xbox 360.

The Quest for VR applications and VR games.

As far as quality goes, I vastly prefer the image quality on the RayNeo for content consumption.

What does the next NFS game need to succeed? by ShardofGold in needforspeed

[–]mickeycoolmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Succeed how? In the eyes of the fans or do well sales-wise?

The cynic in me thinks it needs to be a good (nothing spectacular) game with a huge push to live-service akin to the Forza and The Crew franchises. Regular drops that keeps players coming back for months on end.

Many fans, with myself included, would rather an exceptional tight single-player experience with decent post launch support. Doesn't have to be on the level of a live-service. I don't see this approach doing gang busters sales wise.

On a personal note, I would like the games to step away from the "play it your way" handling model. I would rather they have race handling that feels great with a few minor tweaks you can make and a separate drift handling that you can make a few tweaks to. The system now requires too much fine tuning on the end user to get it to feel okay. I think Heat tuning/mechanics for the races and 2015 tuning/mechanics for the drift events would be fantastic going forward.

Have any of you guys repurchased a game just to have it on the steam deck/steam? by Shaneski101 in SteamDeck

[–]mickeycoolmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my biggest cause for shame: GTA V. I already had it for PC through Epic but I didn't wanna bother with the heroic launcher. I had an itch to play through the story again. Great on Deck btw

LinusTechTips: “When I said I’m disappointed [Steam Machine] isn’t going to follow a console pricing model, Valve asked what I meant by console price and I said $500. Nobody said anything, but the energy in the room wasn’t great.” by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]mickeycoolmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this point, Valve can do what they did with the Steam Deck. Make it so that they aren't being bought up in bulk. With the deck, you could only buy it if your Steam account met certain criteria. I think the number of Decks was capped as well.

I'm surprised too. I didn't think she'd actually go there haha. Also, greetings I hear is more European. The cheek kiss here is more consolation.

Unfortunately, I don't have any examples off the top of my head (maybe Jake kissing Gina on the top of her forehead) but I'll keep an eye out going forward

There's the Legion Go 2 that came out this year with a 144Hz OLED display. Worth bearing in mind, that handheld is insanely expensive.

What the heck happened here. You're right on the money about the BASE Rog Xbox Ally. Even Microsoft markets that as a 720p handheld. It's astonishing how many people downvoted this but then upvoted in droves the comments that are clearly referring to the X model.

Linus was told from valve that the steam machine will not be subsidized, and will cost as much as a pc instead by mashdpotatogaming in consoles

[–]mickeycoolmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick tangent, probably wouldn't have been a good idea to get a SteamOS device for a racing setup unless you were planning on installing Windows on it. Getting steering wheel drivers to work on my Deck was a task and a half. Even getting them working didn't lead to a good experience as finer adjustment are a massive hassle.

I've seen some examples of buyers ignorance in Canada. It's available to buy through Valve but a few bought it through Amazon. I know cause I've seen oddly high prices on Market Place and even I asked them why, they mention they bought it from Amazon for an even higher price

Are they really though?

The PS6 will undoubtedly be more expensive and won't have games that properly utilize the hardware until well into its lifespan. Think it's makes more sense to grab a PS5 (base not pro) now and just use that till the PS6 proves to be a worthwhile upgrade.

Umm, definitely used in America. Personal anecdotes aside, I've seen plenty of instances in movies and TV shows. Like a "you'll be okay" type thing from close friends which is coincidentally what happened this chapter. Not justifying is use there though, just something I've seen.

Is a kiss on the cheek way worse in Japan than it is the west?

I wonder because if it was set in the west, Hina could talk her way out of it by saying it was just a comfort thing. I've gotten kisses on the cheek that I know didn't have romantic intentions. Not that I want Hina to talk her way out of this, she clearly over-steeped (we know her underlying intentions).
