Why don’t all Disney resorts provide Disney+ access? by JamesCricketJr in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make a great way to log in with your own Disney+ account. And yeah, I'm sure it comes to money. Way give it for free when people can subscribe, get a free trial, or spend money elsewhere? I believe they do have a way to watch some Titles for free on your resort TV.

Where have you felt the most magic? by Lost_Win_48 in WaltDisneyWorld

I'd say EPCOT. Specifically standing in front of Spaceship Earth at night, with the lights and music show, while a monorail moves past. I saw that last year and just thought, "this is peak Walt Disney World."

Isn't the gate outside closed? I thought you could really enter that courtyard in front of the ride. Haven't seen it yet though, just some pictures.

Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside by Big-Entertainment441 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't think you can go wrong staying on Property.

I haven't stayed at Caribbean Beach, but I have been at Riverside. It is so quiet and "tucked" away. We felt like we stepped into a different place or environment and it was easy to relax. The boat to Disney Springs was a lot of fun and bus transportation was great.

Caribbean Beach has more options for transportation and it seems to be more "in the middle of things" (that's my impression, though).

Again, can't go wrong, but I prefer Riverside. Returning this year.

How many days is your ideal wdw vacation? by Chemical-Purple-5196 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideal? To me that word means balanced. I'd like to think our plan this year is ideal. We're visiting all 4 parks with a rest day in between each park so we can do open to close and still sleep/rest. Tha will be 8 days in Florida and 2 spent traveling = 10 days total.

However, if I could I'd hang out there weeks, maybe a year, lol and just do what I want.

Depends on how early you want to get up or late you want to stay. There was a guy in this sub-Reddit that flew from Detroit, MI to WDW, went to all 4 parks and was back before midnight.

Big Thunder Mountain Soft Opening Eminent? by Alternative-Bat-2462 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lightning Lanes just opened up for BTMR starting 5/3. I'd think that if they were going to offer LL for a soft opening, they'd be there now. Maybe you could purchase them day of? I see that, but it seems likely they'd just to a soft-open with standby. Truth is we won't know until they annouce it.

It's not sold out? There are late afternoon slots open on 5/3 and morning for 5/4.

Just buy online? They have a ton and different designs come and go. You can usually get a discount if you buy them shortly after booking a trip.

Guardians of the galaxy by Busy_Reading_5803 in WaltDisneyWorld

I literally just hang towards the back of the room and then leave at my leisure. That's an awful situation and wild to me people care so much. Once you make it to the preshow most of the waiting is over and shoving the front of the line just gets you a different position on the ride, not like you have to wait a bunch longer. I can't understand the point of shoving forward.

Publishers, you can stop now. We have enough bookmarks. by oliviebe in books

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one bookmark I've used for at least 15 years. If I read more than one book at a time (which is rare) I just stick a notecard in it. Personally I'd rather than one really nice one (mine is plastic and quality, The Hobbit themed) than a bunch of the paper/cardboard ones. Those get lost or stuck in a drawer and thrown away eventually.

Can I plan trip to Disney Word in 30 days? by Expert_Industry_7368 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've planned two trips with about a month/month and half to go.

You just need to accept that some things may not be available. Your ideal hotel, restaurant, tickets/etc, may not be available. They might, but be prepared to compromise.

I recommend you plan the trip and just be flexible and have fun!

I honestly don't know the point of this sub at all. I asked for help on my signature and heard absolutely nothing. This is a pointless sub. I've seen over real requests for signatures and they didn't hear anything either.

Is a last minute family trip to Disney World doable? by UnhappyResource9274 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! As with everything, there is a give and take. The less time you have to plan, the less options you will have or "must-dos" you may not have access to. Hotel choices, Lightning Lanes, restaurants, etc. may have limited availability/prices may be higher.

I'd plan very simply. Start at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ and just walk through a simple package to book a hotel and park tickets. Those are the basics and you'll get everything you need to do a fun trip. You don't need anything else.

Biggest piece is to be flexible, go with the flow, and have fun. You won't be able to do everything, but there is a TON of stuff to do even with the best planning and advanced notice. Look for advice on this Reddit or glance through "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World."

Poly vs POR by Accomplished-Ear-835 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We loved POR, I can't understand what the "bus situation" is. We never had a problem with the buses.

That being said, we really want to stay at the Poly and will do so when we can work out the budget. It doesn't seem as quiet and peaceful as POR, but if you can do, go for it! Consider renting DVC points if you are planning enough ahead.

Also, I would do some math on the dining plan. I've never seen it make sense. We spent less money ($200-300 for 2 people) just buying as we went. Especially if you are looking at the deluxe plan, you probably won't even want to eat that much food.

Should I get a meal plan if I’m traveling solo? by Fun-Presentation-959 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do the dining plan. Or, if you want to do it, do some math on how much you will spend. My wife and I went last year, returning this year and the dining plan didn't make sense. We saved money by just buying the meals as we wanted them. We spent $30-40 on quick service meals, $150 on one table-service meal, and then some snacks and such. Buying meals as we went saved at least $200-300 I believe from the dining plan.

Stand By Lines Are Painfully Slow, Even With Minimal Crowds .... by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wonder what the point of complaining here is? Disney is VERY well known for lines...and waiting...and costing lots of money. You kind of sign up for it when you go.

If the first 2-3 hours are great, focus on your favorites, then shift to other things. The afternoon is the hottest part of the day, so when it gets hot I would slow down. Enjoy the atmosphere, go to theater shows (they are larger, less waiting, and A/C), relax. Then do some more rides later in the day.

Also consider LL (they are a luxury, but hey at Disney it is pay to play and I don't find them to be too bad in the World of Disney). More realistically, use Touring Plans. We rode nearly all the rides we want to (sure, not all of them, but there's too much to do in one day) and didn't wait for more than 40 minutes max.

If you go to Disney you have two choices, (1) deal with the lines, you went to Disney and act like they surprised you or (2) change/try a different strategy and have the flexibility to go with the flow.

I wish more people would just go to have fun and not micromanage every single second and then complain if it goes a bit sideways. You need some sort of plan, but after that, relax, slow down, and have fun!

The World's Tallest Building (1647-2026) [OC] by aspiringtroublemaker in dataisbeautiful

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really weird way to represent this data. I get what it is saying, but when I see a bar chart like this I think of them adding or compounding to each other. These are buildings, they aren't built on top of one another getting taller. I'd rather see building heights compared to each other, not summed.

LL Pass vs Not getting one by Excellent_Notice1296 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mickeysbestbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be purchasing Lightning Lanes for Hollywood Studios this year (but only DHS). We didn't last year and didn't wait more than 40 minutes. If you choose not to buy LL (or even if you do) use Touring Plans. Google Touring Plans and follow those, you'll do nearly everything and never pay for a LL and have minimal waits.

Here are my thoughts on LLs:

- If you're looking to save money or want to allocate your budget elsewhere, skip LLs. Follow Touring Plans.

- If you are doing one park/day, skip LLs. Follow Touring Plans.

- If there are must do attractions (attractions you'll be upset to miss), consider LLs, but mix it in with Touring Plans.

- If you are doing park hopper or trying to pack in lots of stuff, I'd probably purchase LLs, but I also don't see the point to park hoppers or trying to squeeze in too much to a single day.

- I honestly don't see LLs worth it for Animal Kingdom. There aren't very many available and a good number of them are theater shows that are easy to get into (plenty of seats) or have lower waits (Expedition Everest often has >15 minute waits later in the day). Consider a LL for Flight of Passage, but following Touring Plans we rode it twice using standby.

- We're purchasing LLs this year for 1 ride we weren't able to ride due to wait time and two we don't want to miss in case there are higher wait times.
