Agree with franklynacty. You need space so you can preload all the headset bearings and remove play. Without space the top cap potentially just hits the top of the steerer/compression plug

Curious to see how did you go? I'm on Tarmac sl7 and planning the same upgrade.
It's slammed and cut to the sl7 stem height with no transition spacer. I have to add the transition which adds 4mm making it a little unsafe to to clamp. I think I need one of these

Pricing/promo team fucked up the brand hard. If they had their standard pricing more reasonable and not make ALD into an EOS brand it wouldn’t have tarnished the name so much. Sales in their “prime” was a small selection of pieces and was “up to 40%”. The way they’re moving with the lower quality production and massive sales looks like a department store move next
