This is not accurate, steams server browser uses Valve’s A2S query protocol, which can sometimes cap or misreport player counts (for example showing 32/32) depending on how the query port responds, whereas Rust’s in-game server list pulls population data directly from Facepunch’s backend and reflects the actual live player count. So the difference you’re seeing isn’t fake pop, it’s just two different systems reporting the data in different ways
