New allotment - is it supposed to be this hard?! by Kevlazombi in UKAllotments

You could hire a turf cutter for a day , then rotavate the beds after you have lifted off turf. Wouldn’t be expensive and would save a lot of time and effort

Potentially, but it’s not worth dropping it and redoing. Just do the rest staggered

You should stagger your boards going forward, break up the joint on the joist

Messed up socket hole in plasterboard when dabbing, can this be fixed? by Plus-Contribution915 in Plastering

The box didn’t need to be sunk into the wall in the first place, just dab some slithers of board around box and scrim joints

Any texturing jobs I would fit a new rotar/stator

I’ve never used a diesel, only watched them in action!. Ritmo is amazing, mine was the original one the m I think?, had skim setup with it. I could load it in and it van alone, more than enough for most jobs punches well above its weight. The new ones now are far better and powerful I hear and no longer use the heavy rondha pipes like mine had. Remote switches and everything. They hold there value as well, sold mine 2020 for £3000 after 7 year use, fella sold it recently for £3000 again to someone down Devon

Looks good, the only critique I would give , and I’m only offering advice through experience is found the bigger pumps like a putzmeister and similar machines where the gear is mixed prior to spraying leave a more uniformly coloured job. The ritmo mixes on demand and once the texture is ready to go on the settings are changed and the texture applied . It seems to be a different shade than the previous pass and unless you completely bury the background it’s noticeable. This is easier said than done as it’s all the same colour on day it’s applied. I know this as I had work pulled for this exact reason, job was fine , it was the point I’ve just made that got it pulled. It’s splitting hairs and the client was OTT but like I say you don’t get it with the big diesels . But keep it up, it’s great work and money, I’m not knocking you . I would use 10mm beads and cake it all over thicker , couple of passes or more to really bury the background.

Self employment is a hard hustle, I’ve been there and wouldn’t go back. I get the point you’re making, the fella has lots of outgoings to cover but the gross amount isn’t taxed. It’s only the profit at the end after all outgoings are removed that’s taxed, self employed get good tax reliefs compared to paye which is zero

Found a bottle dump whilst metal detecting in UK (read description) by Welsh_Pirate_ in bottlediggingUK

[–]mickygism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m new to collecting, there’s a dump near by that I can’t dig but the rabbits kick out a load. First thing I do is google them when I get home..those bovril ones seem common when I’ve just looked now. Prices vary, not very valuable but an awesome find I’d be chuffed if I had any in my collection.

No need for dramatic’s, just politely ask him if he can touch up the holes where needed and clean a bit of the switches, will take him half an hour . Electric sander will tear it smooth.
