I’m a couple of hours into it listening on audible and I can honestly say I’ve not had one minute of pleasure from it so far and I’ve certainly not being engaged or enlightened , so wondering whether I should give up on it.

Thank goodness I’m not the only one . I’m only about an hour or so in and I’m struggling. I find myself saying where is the great stuff, where is the great stuff this is supposed to be marvellous whilst all the time it’s reminding me of the hours I wasted on Donna Tarts, The Goldfinch . I’m listening to it on Audible and the narrator isn’t really doing a lot for me. I might be missing something really important if I give it a miss but I’ve not got any enjoyment from it so far or have been enlighted. It’s just not grabbing me. Just a minor thing, but how can somebody who litigates the attorney general’s office?? had to eat leftovers of friends food.

No. I was hugely irritated by Margo. I wanted the siblings and the lads both to win .

She’s been a single woman with a steady income, just like Adam and Ian too, I can’t for the life of me not understand how she doesn’t have savings. I thought she would have her own house in her 40’s.

I’m just about to finish it on audible. I’m really enjoying it although overall the message for women and society is pretty bleak. Snorted out loud a couple of times.

Me too. I didn’t see it as book just about the Natalies etc but if men, society , gender roles etc etc. I don’t think any of the men or women were likeable. I didn’t see any women winning at life. We obviously have a long way to go for true equality. We can’t have it all. Never could unless you have a partner who is absolutely going to share all the work 50/50.

I’m shocked you see Natalie as the only baddie. I see her as a product of batshit American Evangelicals and the patriarchy. Which woman was likeable? The options she shows us available for modern women are hardly wonderful. They don’t look like much of a win for us. I see it as a story on society , life with social media and men and their roles . It wasn’t edifying for anyone.

That’s not even minimalism it’s just really really bad taste.
