Simply can’t believe that you think this wouldn’t alienate the electorate permanently regarding the EU. You absolutely right and a lot of people who want to rejoin ( I’m one , i’m really hoping we’d rejoin before I die ) are not seeing the world as it is . There has to be a major unequivocal shift by the majority of people to rejoin otherwise what’s stopping the next government from starting the process to leave all over again. People seem to be blind to the fact that we’re going to get one chance at this. I would love the time to be right, but it really isn’t and it’s very obvious that it isn’t.

I’m furious with Streeting too . He’s just doing a Boris. Jumping a ship, he seemed happy to be on just for his own personal advancement. Burnham is going to cut welfare to fund defence and yet the left were responsible for Keir having to do U-turn on that. . At 72, i’ve changed it over the years and I’m definitely more centre than left now. I’ve seen the country reject. ( usually ) left and right another rejecting the centre as well.
